A small, or well, big problem

    Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it definately has something to do with the simple model edits and therefore I might find the answer here.

I've been using a NE Male to UD Male model for a long long long (really long) while (y'know, just a patch file into my Data folder - we all know how it's done). But here comes the problem, few days ago I decided to drop the model for a while and remind myself how the character looks like and I realised that even WITHOUT the edit my Night Elf remains a Male Undead, so that's what I'd like to find out - what caused the modification of the real model (basicaly the one that is in common MPQ, as I got the impression that the models are there tho I couldn't find a program to open it and check).

So, yeah, I'd like to know what is the possible cause of this as it made the game impossible to patch and when a new patch hits it requires re-installing or getting a new common MPQ that isn't messed up (getting one via Skype atm and will find out soon if I can just replace mine lol). A not-so-outdated program that allows opening of MPQ files will help a lot aswell I believe!

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: Before someone flames me, I'd like to point out that I'm clueless when it comes to model editing - my knowledge's limit reaches extracting the patch file into the Data folder and starting the game.

This is the error during the patching:

The patch "base\CHARACTER\NightElf\Male\NightElfMale.M2" could not be applied. (Invalid source file size: expected 1346080, actual 1371280.)

Edit The so-called problem is in the patch-3 MPQ I think, just noticed that the error shows up when it writes data into it.

You've left the patch in there when you've patched the game at 3.2/3.3 etc is my guess.
You'll need to reinstall to fix this.

Also, you need the model editing questions and requests subforum for this thread :P

That should be the reason, yeah. Thanks for helping out! +Rep

As simple as the problem was, now atleast one of the possible ways to fix it is confirmed aaaaaaand I'll know how to avoid it in the future.

Aye, what i do is every patch, copy the patches i have installed to a folder on my desktop called "PrePatch Edits".
Delete the patches you added from the data file.
    Patch as normal.
Once patching is finished just copy/paste them back in

Good luck with the reinstall, painful to watch ><

Check to make sure the only remaining MPQs in your folder are:

    common.MPQ
    common-2.MPQ
    expansion.MPQ
    litchking.MPQ
    patch.MPQ
    patch-2.MPQ
    patch-3.MPQ

Anything else is foreign , and an edit. If Check you en(US) folder as well. if this does not help then I'd reccomend wow repair
