    Making custom maps

    Hello.
I was wondering if anyone with a bit of Wow .MPQ knowledge could tell me (if posible) how to make custom maps. By custom maps i dont mean with Noggit or anything. No i mean when opening the map with hotkey M when inside wow. I have a feeling that all the maps for Wow is just picture files. And the little arrow (thats yourself) is just a layer on top of the map. Please. If you know how to change/make custom maps please tell me. Even if you only know where the map files are hidden. Only thing i know is that its inside one of the .MPQ's
    Thanks

You're completely correct. The arrow (yourself) is a completely separate layer. The map itself is actually made up of around 15 .BLP files. I remember editing these in TFE alpha.

Unfortunately i can't remember exactly where they're located. I do however know it's not a complicated place. Browse through your .MPQs with MWCS until you come across some map-related BLPs

The maps are inside of the mpq file, and they are 2d files, but I don't see why you would try and edit them that way. You can edit them with nogitt and rename them, put them in your own mpq, then map them thru your dbc files and it will allow you to have your custom made... or modified map.
