Basic area-changing revolves solely around extracting, renaming and packing files. All of which can be done with MyWarcraftStudio. Guide given below:
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...l-editing.html
Re-texturing ground .blp files also revolves around MWCS, although the above guide revolves around swapping a .m2 (model). The below guides focuses more on .BLP swapping:
- BLP Texturing / Reskinning & Retexturing:
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...rface-hud.html
{The above guide, quetioningly labelled as 'Interface Editing', is a nice equivalent to those other BLP-Editing/Retexturing Guides out there, especially for those sole visual-learners. It uses the regular; MyWarcraftStudio, BLP-Convertor and Paint/Photoshop. 100% Noob-Friendly.}
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...texturing.html
{The above guide covers pretty much 90% of what re-texturing consist of. It includes file-types, tips, techniques, general rules, and walk-throughs. 90% Noob-Friendly.}
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...ome-skins.html
{This guide revolves around BLP-Editing via the very handy tool named BLP Convertor and using MyWarcraftStudio. 97.5% Noob-Friendly.}
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...reskinner.html
{Ah. The guide i used to learn how to re-texture. 100% pics makes this guide VERY easy to follow. The main focuses consist of BLP Converting and photoshop / paint editing. This guide also uses MyWarcraftStudio. 95% Noob-Friendly.}
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...l-editing.html
{The above guide revolves entirely around MyWarcraftStudio Editing. Although it does focus on the necesarry techniques relative to Reskinning, the main focus here is switching models. Primary Learners or 'Noobs' may find this rather confusing, therefore, in relation to this topic, i rated this guide as 60% Noob-Friendly.}
Read through them, and relate them to your desired zones that you will be focusing on within your area-change. (Ground textures are located in common.MPQ/TILESET/ZONE/.blp file.
Zone name-changing, audio-swapping and sky graphics editing are also rather simple procedures. All three consist of variable-swapping within database caches. The first and latter of which can be done through Glithey's MES:
- Editing with Glitchey’s MES:
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...tchys-mes.html
{The above guide is a basic description of Glitchey's MES Software, what it's funcions are and how to activate them. 100% Noob-Friendly.}
Audio swapping is not a feature included within Glitchey's software. Therefore, you will have to carry it out manually. However, it is extremely easy. Read the following guide:
- Adding Music to an Area (DBC Editing):
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...ns-noggit.html
{Strangely enough, the above guide is relatively simple and revolves around mere DBC Variable-Editing. 75% Noob-Friendly.}
Failing that you could always just swap the .wma files provided within your .MPQs via MyWarcraftStudio.
Read through all the above guides. If your struggle persists, contact me via MSN. I'll help you from there. Area-Changing is easily the most simple aspect of Model-Editing.
Uhh...Your stupid guide links is worng...and please...stop linking that, and give a better answer then "These guides are good: bla bla
Oh ya, Id suggest starting with the blp or doodad changeing (its 100% the same to do :P)
- Adding Music to an Area (DBC Editing):

{Strangely enough, the above guide is relatively simple and revolves around mere DBC Variable-Editing. 75% Noob-Friendly.}
Download MyWarcraftStudio 10 (find it from google or this site)
then open common.MPQ, learn the folder structure and then choose a texture you would like to change.
Right-click on the file and select "Copy Treepath", paste it to your notepad.
Then select the texture you want it to be, extract it to your desktop or somewhere.
Then rename it as the BLP you checked previously.
Then make a new MPQ, select the file and before adding it to the MPQ paste the treepath (Something\Something\) in front of the file.
Save and close, rename the patch you created as "patch-3.MPQ" and place it in your WoW Data folder.
