Permanently changing an original MPQ! Possible?

So, as the title says, is it possible? Like changing a model (changing in a DBC file, for exemple, directly on the "locale-enUS.MPQ"), so WoWME wouldn't be necessary? Could it be done, has already been done?
As always, I have used search, found nothing, and now Im asking it here. Thanks for any answer!!

Bad idea. You can really mess it up like that, and I think it checks the file hash anyway, so it wouldn't work anyway. I sure hope you made a copy if you tried it.
    Welcome back Idusy tard :P

i dont know if that is possable, but i say, go ahead and try, just dont do it on a live server and back it up so that if it causes problems you can revert to the untampered version

First of all you don't need the ME fix for any edit right now, as far as I know. Secondly I wouldn't recommend tampering with Blizztard's MPQ's, unless you want to reinstall the game.

I did that with my 2.X.X files to have some Wotlk textures in my noggit and it worked. I wouldn't suggest you to change anything, but adding could work.
