Hair textures

When doing a race swap, is there any way to have separate hair textures for each gender? At the moment I have made a FNElf-FBElf swap, but from what I've figured out so far there is one of two problems: I DON'T include hair textures, and the BElf hair gets NElf hair textures and looks horrible, or I DO include them, and my male NElf characters get BElf hair textures which look horrible.

So is there a way I can have the female using BElf hair textures, and male using NElf textures?

Or, if not, is there a way I can make the BElf model use the NElf hair model without breaking things?
