[Question] Putting 3.1+ Models ito 2.4.3

Hi, I'm playing on a 2.4.3 server. I noticed the release images of the new Tauren and Nelf Feral forms. I'm wondering if it's possible to extract the relevant model(s) from the next patch with them in it, and replace the old 2.4.3 fugly ones whole-sale. I think the new ones are mode in-depth in polygon count and better texture, but I'm not sure.

Is this doable? I've done some model-editing before, so I know how to make a custom patch etc. But I'm wondering if it would cause game-breaking conflicts because the model used might be more high-res than the old one.

Not easily. Would take a shitload of hexediting to get the files right. But well, I guess its in the range of possibilities.

Still; I wouldn't do it. xD

Oh, I was planning to just locate the relevant .m2 model and texture (will have to pick 1) with WoWModelViwer, rename them, and replace the old files.

Assuming that the models themselves are somehow magically compatible, why would hexediting play into this o_o?

Do you mean the need to edit for like, size and placement? I did a model swap of a mount to mount before and had the size issue (though I fixed it by using Glitchy's studio to resize the base model itself. Not perfect, but it did well enough).

(I'm really a model-editing noob, I just read and followed the tutorials XD)

You would need hexediting because the structure has changed a bit:
    new: M2/WotLK - WoW.Dev Wiki
    old: M2 - WoW.Dev Wiki

Oh dear, okay I have no idea what all that is XD

Well a bit of reading and some manuals, I THINK I'll be able to get it...hm...

The hex editing is pertaining to stuff like the alpha of the model, and it's movement and stuff like that is it?
