    [Help] Crashing w/ WoWMe

So, I've tried searching, and searching, etc... for why I'd be crashing while trying to use a custom model edit (a simple recolor), and I crash every time I'd see the object in-game. I'm 100% sure it's in the right path, everything's capitalized that should be, not when it shouldn't, etc.

Well... might as well admit, yes, it's for a fishing bobber. Figured I'd start small, then work my way up. Anyways, I've made a patch-X.MPQ with Ladik's MPQ Editor, extracted the original 'G_FishingBobber.blp' from common.MPQ, converted it to .png with that java converter, changed the color, converted it back to .blp, inserted it in patch-X.MPQ, ran WoWMe.exe, F8 at login screen, selected my character, and when I'd go to fish, it'd crash. Any idea why this would happen? Like, am I just leaving out a simple (or complicated) step? Thanks in advance.

I know X is a variable, but I've tried a, b, 3, and others, and those didn't work either, so I figured I'd just stick with X. Would that make a difference?

Edit: Thanks for the fast reply, too.

FYI you shouldn't need WoWME if all you're changing is a texture. You probably converted the file to the wrong type.
    I don't do tutorials.

To .png, then back to .blp?

Tried that one, same problems. I'll upload the patch mpq in a few.

Am I supposed to remove the blp from the common mpq? I haven't, but was wondering if that'd change anything. I've also tried without WoWMe in the past, and I'd get an error message saying it was a problem with the blp.

Edit: Uploaded to my old site-in-progress... http://pharue.googlepages.com/patch-X.MPQ

I downloaded the patch file , looked at the blp and i compared it with the original blp.
The path is ok , the blp is ok .... everything is ok^^
But for me... it doesn't work either...
I changed the texture path in the m2 to
    NEW\MYNEWOBER.BLP

    aaaand here you are:
the mpq includes every thing and it works!
    I just tested it^^

Awesome... I tested it as well, and it works perfectly. However, does this mean I'll have to do this for any other texture edit?

    Oh, and +rep too.

It depends on what you want to do...
I never saw something strange like this xD Normally it should have worked like you did it but i have no idea what that was Oo
If it really completely doesn't work even if you did everything right...then you can edit the texture path in the m2...
So that you can do it your self:
    Requierments:
    -A Hex Editor
    -Your files

The structure of the m2 are written down here:
    M2/WotLK - WoW.Dev Wiki

So if you want to change the texture, look in the header for the offset of the textures.
The wiki says that the information where the texturepath of the m2 stands is at the offset 0x054.
    Wiki Quote:

    0x054uint32ofsTexturesTextures of this model.
So we have to search for offset 054 (0x stands for hexadecimal system)
It also says that this information has a maximum size of 4 bytes...
ok i searched for it and so the program jumps to 054...
In the fishing bobber.m2 there stands:
    20 14 00 00

    A Screen of this step

So because the 2 last bytes are just 00 00 we just nee 20 14.
And now we now the offset ,where the texture path is located.
BUT because of the hex system (wich is reversed) we have to search not for 2014 ... we have to search for 1420^^ (don't reverse the numbers inside of the bytes ...reverse the order of the bytes^^)

    A Screen of this step

So when i searched for 1420 my hex editor jumps to the offset and there it is! the texture path ^^

    A Screen of this step
And now: Just edit it and save the edited m2^^

    A Screen of this step

(I always marked the important parts^^)
