Character model question

I'm working on another mount swap, this time using the wings you get from being shot from the Darkmoon Faire cannon.
I've replaced the Netherdrakes with this swap, but I am wondering if it's possible to have the character on the mount in a floating(ala levitating priest, who is not in free fall) or a free fall position, rather than the sitting on a mount position. If not, then you'll end up looking a bit like a flying monkey once I've finished working on the mount point to where it connects to the shoulder area.
