help, male belf -> female night elf hair

so i got my model changed from a male belf to a female nelf but the hair is completely messed up everytime that i try to do it. it's always bald and wraps around the neck. if someone can help me out with this or show me how to fix the problem that would be great. i've looked around and the things that i found didn't work for me.
for example: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...air-style.html only tells me how to change my current char's hair style, dont know if it's the same process for changing a model's hair style but it didn't work for me.
