    2.4.0 -> 2.4.1

So, I'm a retard and forgot to take out my .MPQs before patching. Currently, I'm having a friend zip his data folder to upload so I can replace my corrupted data folder.

Would this fix it? Or should I be doing something else, I don't feel like doing a complete reinstall. :<

Hey mate i had no idea that if you get a new patch you need to delete your MPQ's which contain an edit - thanks for the heads up.

    To answer your questions :
    Yes it will work

If you get a Data folder from someone who's wow runs perfectly that it will go good. I had the same problem a year back when i started using model editing, i simply asked my brother to place his data folder on the network and managed to replace my corrupted one, and wow worked fine.

IF your friends wow is working fine and you copy his data folder, it will solve the problem.

It'll take him years to completely zip and upload the file.

I figured I'd try the repair tool, but it's not updated to work with 2.4 yet.

I remember seeing a thread about downgrading from 2.4 to 2.3.3 but I can't find it. I also remember seeing a thread where someone had already uploaded their 2.4.0 files. Any help? :[

You certain that you're files are truly corrupted? A few mods dislike 2.4.1 and I doubt they'll work until some new fixes come out. MEF or whatever.

Have you tried running WoW with all mod MPQs removed from your Data folder? If so, then I suppose you do have a problem.

After I finished patching 2.4.1 and tried to login using wowme I got an error. Then I tried again and slapped myself. I moved all my edits from my data folder to my desktop and attempted to run wow the normal way and got another error. So yes, I do indeed have a problem.

It sounds like you might have a mod in your enUS folder. I'm not sure what it would be called -- I think right now the official files in there are patch-enUS.MPQ and patch-enUS-2.MPQ. If you have another one, try removing it.

Blizz made some changes to several DBC files in 2.4 and 2.4.1, and old mods seem to be having troubles. That file in particular stores info about MOB appearances.

I think there are some mods that put this file in patch-enUS-2.MPQ, so you might try deleting that file and rerunning the patch if you can't find anything else.

Well, I'm fairly certain you still have a mod MPQ hiding somewhere. Unfortunately, the one you haven't seemed to locate is one containing a DBC edit. Like model edits, these simply will not work without something like WoWME or MEF. Unlike model edits, these files load the moment you start WoW and will crash it instantly.

I'm 99% certain that nothing is actually corrupted. With an updated fixer, it should run just fine. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a bit for them to get updated. Keep searching -- there has to be another mod in there somewhere.

You may be right about none of my files being corrupted, but I'm sure I got all my mods out. I've edited my itemcache around, but there are no .wdb files at all in my cache.

I've been looking around WoW tech support and it seems other people have been experiencing the same errors.

It is possible that it merged the altered DBC with the patched version. If you like, I can host a working version of the CreatureDisplayInfo.DBC.

You'll have to put it in your patch-enUS-2.MPQ under the folder DBFilesClient - probably overwrite it. You know how to do that?

Using Glitchys MES I have done a couple WDB edits which use the itemcache.wdb, but looking for it again to remove the edits so I can get back on WoW, the itemcache is gone, does this happen whenever a patch comes around? Is there any way I can get my item cache back so I can revert the changes?

If you patch with a model edit in your data folder, it does apply itself without the need for the patch anymore. You still need a 2.4.1 MEFix, but it should be out soon.
