Tauren to NE, hair has no texture, please help

I checked some of the guides on various hair fixes (such as http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...air-color.html), but I can't seem to find the solution I need.

I did a model edit to make my female tauren look like a female night elf (still desperate to find a size fix too, but that seems to be elusive). Her hair is flat neon green, and doesnt' have any hair texture. I looked, and it seems that tauren get "ScalpLowerHair" files, where other races seem to have different hair files. So... how do I get my night elf to look less like a cheaply drawn anime extra?

So the hair color fix in the thread I linked above won't work (I don't think?). I'm still trying to wrap my head around model editing, only been at it a day, and I'm afraid of breaking WoW if I just start moving/renaming files that "might" get the job done.
