I just logged in... did my AddOns (all messed up ... damn it), logged off, smashed my purgatory-vestments-mpq in my Data Folder and ... it loaded?
I just named it patch-2.mpq.

Thats ... freaky. :confused:
But okay so far lol

Ehm .. Try character edits. Textures in Items\ or such folders don't count :P

But well, to explan this:
WoW still loads other files than their own. eg that patch-2.mpq. If there is none yet, just use that filename. But it still checks if those MPQs have the right signatures. For world\ character\ etc folders. Not for all. As said, Items\ isnt checked. So feel free to still use such things.

when i try and update the new patch, i get the message:

The patch "base\CHARACTER\BloodElf\Male\BloodElfMale.M2" could not be applied. (Invalid source file size: expected 2668144, actual 1630768.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. your problem seems to be that somehow the files out of your custom patches got in and it does not like them. thats what i think. no guarantee.

My Non-Combat Pet Swap still works. My staff-change via WDB is gone. No big deal, still got ma Mr. Wiggles.

non-combat pets are in creatures\. WDB files get resetted each patch. Its still possible.
