    Priest Spell Package

    The visual appearance (and sounds) of priest spells are changed as follows in this package:

    Psychic Scream -> Thunderstorm
    Devouring Plague -> Abyssal Punishment
    Shadow Word: Pain -> Chain Lightning
    Smite -> Pyroblast
    Renew -> Holyform
    Mana Burn -> Frostbolt
    Power Word: Shield -> Divine Aegis
    Lightwell Renew -> Light Bomb
    Body and Soul -> Paragon
    Mind Blast -> Rocket Launch
    Surge of Light -> Elusive Power

    Some screenshots can be found on wowhead.com if you aren't already familiar with most of these spells.

    I might do some more swaps in another month when my priest is higher level, bumping the thread when updated then.

    99% of the reason I did these was for my own usage. So I probably won't do custom requests for people. However, I've recently updated my spell swapping guide in the guides subforum ("[Guide] Spell swapping as of 3.3.2 (without MES)"), so refer to such if interested in having different spell swap choices:

    Awesome, shall be fun to try out when soloing rep or something

    Btw do you think you could make some of them seperatly, for example I'd love to have pyroblast smite however some of the others are a little over the top. Works great though, rocket spell swap was innovative

    Thanks. Though mainly I didn't want to raise expectations for custom spell swaps, I might potentially do one or two.

    Spell swaps made individually unfortunately couldn't just be custom combined by having multiple single-spell-swap patch-X.MPQ files each modifying Spell.dbc in one's WoW data directory: Regrettably, I'm sure the last patch MPQ would overwrite the version of Spell.dbc within the prior patches in that case. However, any combination of spell swaps all within one .MPQ file like that in the original post is possible.

    What spell swaps are you looking for and which ones would you rather avoid?

    (For instance, I'd guess the Devouring Plague -> Burning Winds swap might not be best for everyone, since, while my own priest is just level 46 currently, it might be too big of an sustained constant animation really on giant raid bosses later on, though there could be other options like maybe Abyssal Punishment - Spell - World of Warcraft or Abyssal Strike - Spell - World of Warcraft ).

    Sorry if i havn't understood your reply fully, i like the pack however it does like you say in raid encounters etc get confusing. Could an MPQ of just Smite -> Pyroblast and nothing else be made and none of the others? even if that was the only spell swap i could have at any one time. +Rep

    Sure. Here's a swap of just Swipe -> Pyroblast:

    patch-9.MPQ

    ===========================================
    ===========================================
    ===========================================

    I decided after some experience with my spell swap package to slightly modify it, to make Devouring Plague -> Abyssal Punishment, instead of Devouring Plague -> Burning Winds. (Burning Winds didn't work as well on large bosses and was messing with their arm movement, though now all swaps function perfectly).

    Here is the revised version:

    patch-8.MPQ

    Abyssal punishment has a sound of thunder, a fancy red bolt from above, and the target engulfed in flames afterward.

    The opening post has been edited accordingly. (An archive of the old version remains at MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service ).

    Note that, though any number of spell swaps can be done within a single file, only one spell swap patch can be active at a time, so delete the old patch-9.MPQ file first if one wants to download the new patch-8.MPQ

    One may, however, have other model edit patches active at the same time if they aren't spell swaps (not modifying the same spell.dbc file). For instance, I use a race swap in a separate patch file.

    Where did you have an error and what specifically was the error?

    With those being within my spell swap package currently, what is the spell or spells that you'd want to avoid in the regular spell swap package? The original version had a burning winds swap which I could see might not be preferred, thus later removed, but the new version now has little which, as far as I know, has much of a disadvantage. I don't replace cool animations like holy fire, just the ones otherwise nearly invisible. Well, the PWS -> Divine Aegis swap might not be desired by Disc priests due to what they already have, but is there anything else?

    That's true.

    Well, you could do so with the guide, in 5-10 minutes to 1 hour depending on how many spells you swap. It is easy to follow as I don't leave out any steps, even down to including the download links for the two programs involved.

    Guide:

    If you do so, post them afterward somewhere on the forums, as hopefully we could get a pattern going.

    Yesterday I happened to create a modified version of my regular spell swap package, which includes all in my original post plus also a warrior Berserker Rage -> Going Ape! (large purple bubble) swap. That addition is not for a warrior really but so my priest can faster notice exactly whenever enemy warriors are fear immune on battlegrounds. In case anybody else would like it, here's a link:
