    [Recolor/texture] Sylvanas, the Banshee Queen.

Well while I was waiting for my account to be activated so I could post, I decided to tackle my second reskin/recolor. For this one I chose Sylvanas, because she is the model I use in-game for my rogue. I really love her base model, and it's very telling of what a Ranger/Rogue/Hunter SHOULD look like, at least in my opinion. Overall this took about 6 or so hours over the last two days. Anyway here is my interpretation, Sylvanas, the Banshee Queen, as she should have been:

The left is my original re-color. The right is a requested matching skulls with cracks.

Hey, alpha channels are fun! No cloak:

    Here she is in game:

    Bigger version here.

Here is my reskin compared with Blizzard's original hash:

    What I changed:

A better question would probably be, what didn't I change? I re-textured the metal on the armor, and also her flesh. I adjusted the makeup beneath her eyes and added a texture behind the glow. I added tacky skulls to her armbands. Everything else was pretty much a just a re-color.

    Download link: http://www.wasteimages.com/Images/Sylvanas.rar The original.
Download link: http://www.wasteimages.com/Images/Sylvanas2.rar With darker skulls, and cracks.
Download link: http://www.wasteimages.com/Images/SylvanasNCW.rar Cloak removed per request, original recolor.
Download link: http://www.wasteimages.com/Images/SylvanasNC.rar Cloak removed per request, darker skulls and cracks.

    Installation:

The download is a packed .MPQ archive named "patch-.MPQ". All you have to do is move the file to your Data folder under the World of Warcraft directory, and add a number (or capital letter) after the - in "patch-.MPQ". The number/letter should be one you're not currently using for any other MPQ archive. (Obviously)

This requires a model edit fix of some variation. I personally use Kynox's MEF: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/bots-programs/107518-world-warcraft-model-edit-fix-kynox.html

    Notes:

The model swap for Character > Sylvanas, any race, posted here in the model edit forums is currently not working properly for 3.1. (At least it wasn't for me.) I had to re-edit the DBC file to fix the model errors I was getting in game when using Sylvanas as my toon. This is specifically for people who already have a working Sylvanas character swap. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE YOUR CHARACTER TO SYLVANAS.

    Sylvanas Character Swaps

I decided to do a swap as requested and offer up my own undead female swap to Sylvanas. I have no future plans to do more, but if it's requested, I may. Disclaimer: No guarantees. :P

These are tested and working with the US client (3.1.3):

    ScF-Sylvanas
    OrcM-Sylvanas

Installation is the same as the texture swap except the archived files are not named "patch-.MPQ". They are named according to the type of swap they are.

Some constructive criticism good or bad for future skins/recolors would be appreciated.

I love the armor, and her skin is great too, but a few things
-The eyes are maybe too red
-Try to darken the skulls abit, make them fit fit the rusted armor.. make them somewhat cracked or something
    Great reskin anyways, +Rep 3x
Edit: i'm on CD :-/ I'll rep you tomorrow

The eyes I was a bit indifferent on, but as I was loading the finished skulls out to test the look in the model viewer, I was actually thinking about the cracks, so I'll give that a go and see how it looks. No worries on the rep, but thank you!

P.S. When you say "too red" do you mean bright, or too red in color, as in to maybe try another color mixed or separate?

Well, from what I read it would require editing the actual model, which I am in no position to do, but I'm not completely sold on that. I think if I was to adjust the alpha channel and make the cloak transparent I could probably remove it. I really like the cloak though, personally. I think all in game cloaks should look like that. Regardless of my personal taste though I will test the alpha channel change and see if it's even possible.

Any chance you could make it into races, though?
It's a pretty simple swap, for my UD female it was literally 1 change in DBC file's table. What race/gender are you? I may consider swapping it.

It might be a pretty simple swap, but I haven't done DBC-editing for like a year so I'm kinda outdated on the programs used etc.

I'd like, if you have time, to get a male orc, as I'm thinking of leveling a hunter with that skin on. :b

Alright, are you US, or GB? I know there have been some discrepancies when editing US DBCs and trying to use them with GB files. If you are GB do you think you could upload your:

    patch-enGB.MPQ
    and
    patch-enGB-2.MPQ

located in the Data\enGB\ section of your WoW folder?

If not I'll just swap it and post it.

I mean, they're too bright, sorry for misleading expression Maybe try to play around with the color, but probably it's ok I'm really looking forward for edited skulls Good luck

I'm from EU : ) You could just swap it as a normal modeledit. I know where to put it and everything, its just the modeledit itself I'm currently boob at. : D

    Updated.

I added the OrcM-Sylvanas swap for you. I tested it and it was working on my US Client. Let me know if you encounter any issues.

Thanks for the edit, however, the only thing that changed was to the original Lady. Your new reskinned colours is not there.

Edit; let me know if you need me to upload my files if there's anything you need to check, though.

Did you install both the OrcM-Sylvanas swap and the re-skin separately? You need to add both of those .MPQ files in order to get the new textures as well. If you only installed the OrcM-Sylvanas swap then yes, he would only show up as the Blizzard version of Sylvanas.

If you have installed both .MPQ files correctly then perhaps the Sylvanas texture files are located somewhere differently in the EU game files. For the US client Sylvanas' textures are located in the patch.MPQ under the second CREATURE folder (in all caps). If it's not there you would need to use MyWarcraftStudio to find her textures and I could pack the .MPQ file according to where in your files they are located. The common and patch MPQs are too big to upload or transfer.
