Whenever you find yourself in a pool of water in Outland and you want to fly away, but can't really manage to shapeshift in the air.

The way to get into flight form 100% of the time is:

Jump-->Turn 90 or 180 degrees-->While in midair shapeshift
enjoy

You can say it's old all you want, not everyone knows about it. Could not find it with search.

I think you misunderstand. It's a way to jump out of the water, not fly in it.
