Dear MMOwners,
Alright so I came to the idea today to just write a guide or some sort about farming Primal Mana. Like all primals the Primal Mana, or rather Motes of Mana, are found on different types of mobs around Outlands. But not only mobs.
I will try to test out all mobs that are there to farm Mote of Mana on and give the pros/cons, extra items to farm there and efficiency, etc.
Change log:
22 January '08: Nothing new, the post got placed.
23 January '08: Added some missing information on the first farmspot.
23 January '08: Added farm spot 2.
Spot number 1:
The first place my search brings me is Netherstorm, many mobs are found here that can be farmed for Motes of Mana. First place I go to is Kirin'Thor Village around 56, 87. Those types of mobs can be found here.
Mana Seeker:
- Looks like a white voidwalker.
- Has about 26% chance on dropped 1-2 motes.
- Drops a nice amount of grey trash to sell.
- You can vendor/repair at a nearby NPC named Apprentice Andrethan.
- These or the other mobs seem to sometimes mana drain.
Mageslayer:
- Droprates equal to the Mana Seeker. Also on the vendor trash.
- Both mobs are also immune to Arcane Damage.
Conclusion:
- Both mobs have around 6k health, so they go down fast. The respawn rate is really nice and heck, the repairguy near is awsome. Also to note is that the mobs are level 68-69, I believe. And the graveyard is really close so that's a pro aswell.
Personally: Stuff I got in 25 minutes: 37 motes, meaning 3 primals and 7 motes. Besides that I got one green, a lockbox and around 10g on grey trash. Really not that bad imo.
Spot number 2:
This spot is also very well known by farmers of the Primal Mana. You can find these mobs around the middle of the left-bottom island of Netherstorm.
Follow the link of the name of the mob to see their location dotted on a map of wowhead.
Mana Wraith - Mana Wraith - NPCs - World of Warcraft
These mobs have:
- 6,300 to 6,500 health. This is more than the earlier mobs, even though these are lower level: 67-68.
- The mobs are involved in a quest to get their Mana Wraith Essence so take Essence for the Engines - Quests - World of Warcraft along if you haven't yet.
- These mobs also seem to drop a nice amount of grey vendor trash and the occasional green.
Some bad things:
- They do a nasty mana burn for mana users called 'Devour Magic', actually stealing 400-500 mana from you and giving them the equal amount of life.
- These mobs are also immune to arcane spells.
- Without flying mount it's really hardfarming, and with it it's not easy either. All the graves in the landscape make it tough to run around.
Conclusion: Not my favorite spot because it's almost always overcrowded by other farmers. Also the amount of time you have to run for mobs is annoying, even more without flying mount. The mana burn spell makes it even more hated for my mage to farm here. And what's with them having more health than the higher level mobs I talked about on spot 1? Nope, not my spot.
Posting this now as it might dissapear when I go on sometime.
Incomplete still, will go on later.
