[Guide] Using Fraps in the Correct way (picture guide)

Hello MMOwned.
Since admins gave me -25rep, I'm gonna build it up again

So I want to make this guide..

:: The Recording ::

1) Open your Fraps

2) Go into "FPS" and set your settings mostly like this

3) Go into the next tab, Movies. Set it to what you like!

4) The Screenshots ain't really that important, but, if you want, set it to what you like.

5) Press the minimize button, and then it goes down to the system tray

6) Enter ANY game, and just record something. After that, you have the movie in the folder you selected in step 3.

7) And you're like: "Wtf, I only recorded liek 7 seconds, and it's liek 78854809mb?!?" - Now, listen up - You're gonna know in the part 2 of this guide.

Part 2: The Compressing of your Video

1) Go and Download VirtualDub

2) Go open it
Picture - Note, I have a older version than yours!

3) Press CTRL-O

4) Select your Video

5) Press CTRL-P, and select the DivX Codec
I cannot make a image, because it crashes for me .. :/

6) Press "Start" or "Go"

7) It should be done in some minutes.

Now it only fills like 1-2mb, depends on length of your recording.

9) Now, press F7 , and choose a new name, and it'll compress!

10) Done

Part 3: The DivX Codec

1) Only read this if you don't have the DivX Codec
2) Download this
3) Install it
4) Restart computer
5) Open up VirtualDub and try the steps again - You'll see some new codecs added!

You can also reduce the filesize with windows movie maker. + rep for the compression program.

Are there any minimal system requirement(s) for FRAPS? WoW lags horribly when I use it.

Let me explain..

FRAPS is designed to DUAL CORE. When you have single core, it can go from 80 fps to like 13-20 fps, and it'll lagg horribly much!
So, get Windows Vista , or get Dual Core. Same price :P

Hey nice guide. sorry to hear about your reputation penalty, i wouldnt advise on gettign windows vista yet because it still laggs wow badly, it will lower your FPS and your ping ingame than if you were using xp on the same computer (like same specs etc). But ye heres +3 rep to help you build it up again. GL dude.

Have you even tried Vista? With nvidia 7600 I get 50+ fps everywhere now

and my ping stays between 80-200

Tankotron @ I agree with you. I have 8600GT, and when I did play WoW I had like 80 fps on High settings .. :S
