Disenchanting Items

We’ll use the Enchanting skill to disenchant items purchased from the auction house and sell those disenchanted items back onto the auction house.
When you download the free Auctioneer addon, you have the option to install Enchantrix as well. This is a great addon that will increase your gold by 40% (or more) every single day!
How disenchanting works to increase gold

The process is simple. Lots of items for sale on the auction house (AH) can be disenchanted into other items (like Dream Dust and Greater Eternal Essence). Sometimes the disenchanted items are worth more on the AH than you can purchase the original item for. So when you sell these disenchanted items back onto the Auction House, you make a profit.
The Disenchanting skill comes with the enchanting profession. And unlike Enchanting, you don’t need any skill levels to disenchant items. Even at level 5, you can even disenchant items that can only by used by level 50s (or above).
It’s a little more complex than that because you can’t be sure what an item will disenchant into. Sometimes you’ll make a profit, and sometimes you’ll make a loss. There’s no way to tell because the disenchant process is random.
However, by taking note of how often you receive a particular disenchanted item (and how many of that item you receive), you can work out an average ‘disenchanted’ price.
It’s also more complex because items for sale (and the disenchanted items you put up for sale) are all subject to the AH market forces. Sometimes items will be more expensive, or your disenchanted items won’t sell for as much. That way your projected profit may end up bring a loss!
Fortunately, the Enchantrix addon does all these calculations for you. It uses the data scanned by Auctioneer to find items that on average will earn you profit by disenchanting them. Because it uses the Auctioneer data, it can work out this average profit using the current market conditions of your faction and server’s auction house.
Here’s the process:
Startup

1. Start a new alternate character. I started a Gnome because it spawned close to a large city (Ironforge), but any race (either Alliance or Horde) will be fine.
2. Play the character normally until you reach level 5.
3. At level 5, go to the nearest large city and learn the Enchanting skill (I learned mine from Gimble Thistlefuzz in Ironforge).
4. Now download and install the Auctioneer and Enchantrix addons.

Each Night
Here’s the process to go through each night.
Go to the Auction House
Use the Auctioneer to scan all auction listings .
Once the scan is complete, type the following :
/enchantrix percentless 50 and press Enter
This will scan the auction house for all items that will make you at least a 50% profit. That is, you will make more than 50% back of the price you paid for the item in the first place. If an item can be purchased for 50 silver, you will on average receive 75 silver back once the disenchanted items are sold back on the AH.
The list of items will be shown in your chat window. Scroll to the top of this window.
The list will show you the item name, the value of the disenchanted items (Valued at), the Buyout price for the item (BO), the cash profit (Save) and the percentage profit (Less).


Find items that will give you the highest cash return. In this screenshot, it is the Heavy Woolen Pants.
Go back into the Auction House and purchase (buy out) all the items that you feel are worth purchasing. I try to purchase only those items that will give me lots of silver or gold in the Save column. You might find sometimes that the items will already have been purchased, so you won’t be able to buy those.
Keep buying items until you run out of gold, or there are no more worthwhile items in the Enchantrix list.
Go to the nearest mailbox, and place all purchased items into your backpack. (Hint: When you have some gold as profits, purchase a few large bags so you can store more items at once).
Using the Disenchant skill (you’ll find it on your skills panel - press ‘k’) to disenchant each item you have purchased. You’ll find it will disenchant into lots of other items.
Once all items are disenchanted, go back to the AH and post your disenchanted items as new auctions. Use the Auctioneer to give you the appropriate price for the items.
Log off from the game (or start playing your main character). 24 hours later, you’ll have a whole lot of gold in your mailbox from the auction items you have sold!
Wash, Rinse and Repeat the next night.
Other Notes
That’s the process! There are a couple of extra things to note:

• If you’re just starting out, some items may be too expensive to purchase. Don’t worry about that. Just purchase those you can afford. The more expensive items will be available in a few days from the profits of the first few days.
• Sometimes your disenchanted items may not sell on the AH. I just re-list those items immediately. Don’t lower the price (stick with the Auctioneer recommended price). For me the item always sells on the second try. There are no auction fees to list disenchanted items, so you can keep re-listing these items as many times as you want without penalty.
• I usually do my auction house scan around 6pm server time or at 10pm server time. At 6pm, you’ll get in before everyone else does. At midnight, a lot of players have finished questing for the night and have placed their new items on the AH for sale.

How much gold can I earn from this method?

I currently have over 200 gold in my alternate character account. On one night I purchased 20 items costing my 38 gold and 46 silver. I then disenchanted those items and sold those items on the auction house for a total income of 52 gold and 85 silver. This gave a total profit of 14 gold 39 silver (about 40% increase in my gold) for about 10 minutes work! Some nights are much better than this too!

How long ago did you make this guide? Not only is a lot of that information out of date, but false, too. As of patch 2.0.1, players with enchanting must reach an appropriate skill level before disenchanting higher level items. Also, the Enchantrix add-on is incompatible and, based on my sources, no new Enchantrix has been made. It could be a nice little bidbroker auctioneer guide, though.
