I. Introduction
Hello everybody! My name is Ocktra. You guys might know me as a moderator on the Glider forums (where I originally posted this guide). I see a lot of questions and new threads on the Glider forums asking what to do if you get banned. Hopefully this will help many people get back to Gliding again and help keep the forums less cluttered. This guide is going to cover most (if not all) possible ways for Blizzard to link you to your old accounts. The only way to truly be safe is to cover all avenues of detection. Please note that I will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury caused by, or related to, the use of any information contained on this guide at any time and provides no warranty of any kind. Feel free to leave your comments and such. I am open for suggestions and will update this thread accordingly.
II. Tell us about it!
The first thing you should do if you get banned is to tell the Glider community about it. Please make a new thread in the Ban/Suspension forum. For mmowned, report your banned account here.
Please keep your post title neat and descriptive. EXAMPLE: "Banned 04-22-2008 Rogue"
Be sure to use the provided template:
Quote:
- What is the date* of your ban.
- Where you on US or EU servers?
- Were you online or offline?
- Were you AFK?
- Were you contacted by a GM?
- Did you get an email?
- What version of Glider were you using?
- Where you using Invisible mode?
- Where you using Shadow mode?
- What was your 'Followers Log Out' set at?
Be sure to include any relevant information that may help us. This can include chat logs, combat logs, glider logs, whispers, etc.
III. Operating System
Yes, reinstalling your operating system is important to gaining a new identity in World of Warcraft. Although Blizzards detection methods are not known by us; we can only guess that they use your computers SUID to find you. The only way to change your unique SUID is to reinstall your operating system. If you are really against this step just skip it. But me (and Mercury) would highly recommend changing your SUID.
There are many guides on the internet for reinstalling your operating system for all of you non-geeky types. Here is a list I compiled:
Windows:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,10...1/article.html
Windows: reformat and reinstall - Cyberwalker.com (you must create an account)
Mac:
http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?...70507084548849
If you don't like those guides google.com is your friend
IV. Internet Protocol address (IP)
I ALWAYS change my IP address after getting banned. Although it is not known if Blizzard uses IP addresses to flag accounts I would highly recommend you change yours.
Before I post the links to the guides I would recommend that you try just turn off your modem for a couple minutes and see if that works. You can go to What Is My IP Address? - Lookup IP, Hide IP, Change IP, Trace IP and more... to check to see if it changed.
Here are two guides that I liked:
http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/sta...-my-ip-address
How do I change my IP address?
If none of the methods listed in the guides worked for you I would suggest calling your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Just ask them nicely and I bet they will change your IP address for you.
V. Media Access Control address (MAC)
Of course it is unknown if Blizzard actually uses your MAC address to flag your account. But lets be safe and change it!
The easiest way to change your MAC address is to go out and buy a new network adapter. But if you don't want to spend the money..
First off I would take note of your current MAC address: Help Desk : Technical Note 0067 : How do I find my MAC Address?
Here are some guides:
Changing MAC addresses on Windows 2000 and XP
Changing Your MAC Address In Window XP/Vista, Linux And Mac OS X (Sometimes known as MAC spoofing)
Also there are programs out there that allow you to spoof or change your MAC address. Here is one example I found on google:
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/U...AC_Change.html
Just google "MAC ADDRESS SPOOFER" or "MAC ADDRESS CHANGER" and you should come up with some good results. If anybody has a recommendation please post it!
VI. World of Warcraft Re-Install
Self explanatory. Re install your World of Warcraft! Blizzard can easily link you to your old account through your old WoW installation. (This does not just mean to just delete your WTF folder. This means RE-INSTALL World of Warcraft)
VII. World of Warcraft Account Creation
Give yourself a pat on the back! You made it to the last step. Now its FINALLY time to create a new, fresh World of Warcraft account. You can always avoid startup cost and get a totally free trial account here: www.warcraft.com
If you want to start on a new non-trial account you can always get your cd keys at Game Codes, Game Time, Registration keys, World of Warcraft, EVE, DDO, Ultima Online and more.......
It is highly recommended that you DO NOT use the same information as your old account. Example:
First Name: Lily
Last Name: Bootersterpants
Address 1: 1337 Purple Street
City: Rainbow Town
State: A valid State (Wyoming works)
ZIP/Postal Code: A valid postal code to match the state (82717 works with Wyoming)
Email: [email protected] (If you need a new email address you can easily make one at Yahoo! (URL:http://www.yahoo.com), Sign In (URL:http://www.hotmail.com), and other related websites)
Phone #: Valid Area Code and Random Numbers (281 works: 2815555555)
Account Name: Random281282
Password: Differentpasswordthenbefore
Tip: Don't have another credit card but need additional months? I pay for all of my accounts using a visa gift card. Here (URL:http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/p...ing%20provider) us a list of locations to purchase a visa gift card.
Tip: Here is a guide to creating a WoW account without using a credit card.
