As you already know, there are a couple effective ways to escape Mobs.
Escaping Mobs may be common sense to some people, but maybe not to others.
So what you need is:
1. How to
2. Pics
Four different ways to do it:
1. ZigZag
2. Patched
3. Stand on objects, unaccessible to Mobs
4. Use Class/Race abilities
So, let's get started!
1. The ZigZag
This is one of the more simple ones....
You just run, while spamming the strafe left then the strafe right button.
The mobs tailing you will start to jump back and forth and it is harder for them to hit you.
2. Make a Mob think it cannot get to you
Patched, don't bother reading it.
Now this is a bit trickier:
It's pretty hard to explain, and it's even harder to do, so here's a picture.(A picture is worth more than a 1000 words, isn't it?)
Now what you want to do is make sure that you are at the spot where the Pic shows you to go BEFORE the Mob reaches the spot where it is shown.
The Mob will think it cannot reach you and reset after a while.
(Sorry for that crappy paintjop by the way... I hope you still got the point)
3. Using certain ingame-Objects
There are some Objects in the game which you can stand on to make a mob reset. For example in the Nightelf starting area: (Tip try to cast a spell on a Mob here, its quite funny)

There are many other objects that have the same effect... You can usually tell. If you're not sure, then just try it out!
4. Racial and Class Abilities
Some Races and most Classes have Abilities that make escaping easier for you.
Racial Abilities:
1. Orc: No useful Abilities except for maybe +25% Stun and daze resist.
2.Troll: None
3.Undead: None
4.Tauren: Warstomp
5. Bloodelves: None
1.Human: None
2.Dwarf:None except increased armor
3.Gnome: Escape artist which frees you of any daze, root, trap, etc...
effects.
4.Nightelves: Increased agility, but it does'nt really help
5. Draenai: Heal
Class abilities:
1.Mage: Polymorph, Blink or Iceblock+Frostnova
2.Warlock:Howl of terror, Fear, Demonic Sacrifice(Voidwalker), Split soul
3.Priest: Shield, Psychic scream
4.Rouge: Solar Plexus, Vanish, Blind and Sprint
5.Warrior: Intimidating shout, Piercing Howl, Hamstring
6.Paladin: Divine Shield, Hammer of Rightousness(Paladins do Bubble+Hearthstone a lot in front of me xD)
7.Druid: Travel Form, bash, cyclone
8.Shaman: Earthbinding Totem, "Aggro" Totem
9.Hunter: Frosttrap, Frostnova trap, Disengage and of course: Feign Death
