This guide was made to enlighten lost or confused warlocks that have any questions.
In this guide you will find answers on questions about gear, talent specs, professions, casting orders, race, stats, and usefulness of friends on the journey from 1-70.
The Class-
Warlocks are a class that bases their attacks on Damage Over Time spells (DOT). They have demons at their disposal that serve a variety of uses from crowd control to tanker. They drain health and mana from their enemies and wither their enemies down.
The Race-
I personally choose to be a Blood Elf warlock because of the aoe silence. From my previous experiences all dpsing classes have problems with downing healers. Arcane torrent, while underestimated, is very efficient at doing this. Undead of course have Will of The Forsaken (which grants temporary immunity to fear and seduces), and cannibalize (devour a corpses to regain 30 percent of health) which is what makes them in my opinion the best soloing class. Orcs have the potential to be great demonology warlocks. With the passive resistance to stuns(15%), Increase in pet damage(5%), and bloodfury(Increase in spell damage for 15 seconds, also scales well as you level). I am not going over alliance races sorry.
Primary stats-
Warlocks in general have 2 important stats in PvE stamina and spell damage. We do not require large mana pools because we can convert mana into health and vice versa. And spell damage increase the amount of health drained from opponents, your dots damage, and pet's attack power. It is always best to have a good balance of health and spell damage with a decent reservoir of mana. Collect gear from tailoring and instances on your way to 70 not only will it give you ample experience in doing instances but it will make PvE go a lot smoother.
The Professions-
Ok now that you have a basic idea on what the concept of a warlock, what stats you need, what races are available etc. It's time to choose your professions, in my opinion the most helpful profession while leveling up is tailoring. It gives you access to gear that will make your journey much smoother. Such as shadoweave sets, dreamweave sets, felcloth sets, and so on.
The talent spec-
Warlocks have 3 trees at their disposal which are all very unique and different. Affliction provides you with more DOTs and strengthens the ones you already have (The most efficient way to get to level 50). Demonology is more of a defensive tree providing extra health more damage migration, and destruction is a Offensive build for short bursts of damage.
This was my spec until level 50- Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
The most efficient way to grind before level 50 is always with voidwalker as pet.
The casting order that was most efficient and downed enemies the faster was
Before I had siphon life-
1. Send void into for attack
2. Cast corruption followed by curse of agony then immolate. ( Do not start off with immolate. Corruption allows your voidwalker to create some agro before you start doing damage.)
3. Life tap once for full mana then drain life.
4. If you are at level 16 and have improved drain soul cast it when your enemy has around 10% health.
After you have siphon life you should have obtained a decent amount of shadow damage so the rotation looked something like this.
1. Send voidwalker in for attack.
2. Cast corruption followed by curse of agony followed by siphon life. (siphon life is last to insure that receive full health return)
3. Life tap until you are at full mana.
4. Drain soul at 10 percent.
Demonology specs
This spec becomes very efficient in PvE at level 50 when you gain access to felguard. Although many warlocks prefer waiting for level 55 for 5/5 improved corruption I did not plan on pvping 50-54 so I respecced to demonology at level 50.
PvE/PvP Hybrid- Sacrifices 2 points in demonic tactics for 3/3 mana feed for. 2/3 empowered corruption for small dps boost. Fel concentration for drain tanking(In pvp/felgaurd resists). Nightfall for short burst(PvP). Imp Healthstone for as oh @#@! button. Mainly used for bgs.

Heavy PvE build- Improved health funnel for grinding. Demonic resilience for 15 percent decrease to damage on pet. Grim reach just incase you pull aggro (Attack miss, Anguish resist, etc. etc.) Fel concentration just incase. And improved drain soul for mana returns.
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Demo specs in PvE and affliction are very similar.
1. Send falguard to attack (If you have 3/3 mana feed you will not have to worry about your pet running out of mana so do not disable auto intercept)
2. Cast immolate followed by corruption followed by curse of agony. (Before you have improved drain soul I choose to skip curse of agony because I would reach a point were I would run out of health and mana. Also I have 280ish shadow damage and 260ish fire damage at level 54 and it is very difficult to pull agro from pet so do not worry about immolate initial damage)
3. Life tap once for full mana.
4. Drain life till dead tapping in-between drain lifes.
5. Drain soul at 10% for mana return form Imp. Drain soul.
For demonology you might want to start collecting + spell damage gear as opposed to + shadow gear you would acquire while you were affliction.
Friends and acquaintances-
As a warlock you will receive man benefits from making friends with a shadow priest. The 2 classes seem to support one another very well in PvP and PvE. Paladins are also very helpful to warlocks for a variety of reasons, which I am not going to get into detail.
A good group of friends with a variety of professions will help greatly end game. Also having a good guild for item support and quests instance help is irreplaceable.
Your place in a group-
As a dpsing class your primary concern is to make your opponents hit the dirt with as much efficiency as possible. In PvP this usually means as fast as possible but in PvE that is not always the case. Going buck wild and dotting everything in your path will often be a sure while way of getting you killed or straining the healer. Make sure to allow the tanker time to make and maintain aggro. Although dot rotations and limits are very hard to become accustomed to you will eventually get the hang of it. Your pet in an instance might have to be changed very often to serve different purposes. For example for an affliction warlock imp is a great mana generator. And for a demonology warlock felguards make great off tankers (in my current case I can easily 4 man mara sunken temple and part of brd with felguard as main tanker)
Helpful addons-
In solo PvE you might find yourself with to many shards and items that have no use for you. Luckily there is an addon that is specifically made for warlocks to help them with all their warlocky needs. Necrosis is a shard, spell, demon, and conjured item organizer that comes with a simple and easy to use interface.

My current UI is named Mazzle UI. It is a suite of helpful addons with a easy to use interface that is very class specific and use friendly. Extremely customizable although it take a little bit of time to get used to.

Mazzle UI needs to be updated every few days through ace updater. You can find information guides and downloads for ace at-

I created this guide because I have seen many lost or confused warlocks recently on our forums and decided that most of our guides were either not helpful for certain aspects of game play or out of date.
Please keep in mind that English is not my first language and my grammar may not be so great. Also many of my decisions spec and gear wise are because of my heavy pvping so if you notice something on my specs and decisions please keep this in mind.
Umm sorry I just realised I put up drain life at 10 percent instead of drain soul. The reason I say to use drain soul is for the 15 percent mana return while solo grinding.
