Maximizing Profit from Farming
I cannot guarantee my methods work on your server, but on the 2 major servers I play on these work beautifully. This is not a guide showing where to farm because there are tons of threads out there already that you can look up. What this is for is for those who like to keep track of the gold per hour that they can earn, and strive to maximize gold earnings. Using this series of tips should increase your earning, whether is be small or large depends on your server, timing and patience.
Suggestion: This guide is much simpler to follow if you know an average number for primals you can farm per hour for Primal Mana, Fire, Air, Water or any other primal you tend to farm often.
The Tips
- Before farming:This is the easiest tip around. Once you have everything ready for your time farming, pop onto a bank alt and check what the primal prices are at today. Find the primal that is on the higher end of the fluctuations so that you can farm for the ones that are worth most at the time. This may seem failry obvious, but you would be suprised at how many people i know who go farming to only find out later that the primal they went after is in a slump and they have to sell their hard earning cheap to pay that pesky repair bill.
- Next, keep track of all your average earning per hour on different farming spots and always keep a backup in mind to your current location. You never know when 5 farmers may pop out of nowhere and slow your farming down enourmously. Farming an area that has slightly lower drop rates, or less gold overall will be preferable to an area with high drop rates and everyone competing for kills.
- Now that you have a farming location and backups in mind, we can get in a little but deeper. Here is where a calculator at your computer desk comes in mighty handy. What you need to do now to squeeze that little bit more gold out of your soon-to-be-farming is to do a bit of math. Compare your average number of primals earned at the location to the current AH price. Say Primal water is at 25g a piece and you can farm 4-5 in an hour. Now, if the demand for Primal Fire was high that day and each is now priced at 36g and you can farm 4 in an hour...you can see my point.
- After Farming: Lets say you got pretty lucky and after a few hours ended up with 15 Primal mana. I bet you're thinking "Wow, by tomorrow i'll be rich!" This could be true, but with a little patience you could be even richer. Think about it, if you put 15 primal mana on the AH at once the odds are some wont sell and you will lose your deposit, or you will be forced to post them at a lower price so that they DO sell overnight. What you do instead is put them up with a MAX of 4-5 at a time. That way your primal can sell and that price stays high.
- But what if by the next day the price has dropped you say? Well, you can either sell them anyways and take a hit on your earning or you can always toss them in the bank for a few days and go on farming the primals that give most profit at the time. It's never a bad thing to keep a couple stockpiled so that when you see that primal price high you can instantly put some up to sell even while you are out farming more. Patience is a virtue.
Well i hoped my few tips helped maximize your gold making potential. If you have any tips that you yourself use to help increase that gold making curve, feel free to post them here and i shall add them with credits to the creators of course.
