How-To prepare for the Legion Transmog Collection Tab

I was thinking about "what is" the best way to collect Transmog items for Legion,
especially greens & blues, since a lot of people, myself included, want to collect all possible transmogs for the new Transmog collection tab.


After thinking for hours, I found something; and it is so ridiculous simple but easily the best method:
Keep collecting Big Crate of Salvage but dont open them until the Legion prepatch.
They stack to 20, so you'll get about 15-18 new appearances for each stack.


Thats it. If you start collecting now, you'll get thousands of different Transmog appearances for the Transmog tab for minimum space requirements.
Once Legion is released of course - which might still takes 6+ months.



Edit: Also you can make mull chars, will add more information later about that.


General knowledge regarding Legion transmogging:
Which Amors slot you can transmog:

Helm, Shoulder, 720+ Cloaks, Chest, 118+ Shirts, 118+ Tabards, Wrists, Gloves, Waists, Legs, Boots

Which Weapontype you can transmog:

Every weapon type possible

Which Quality does the Item have:

 Every item can be transmogged, including grey items, excluding legendaries & miscellaneous weapons

Regarding the same Transmoglook of different items:

You can unlock Appearance/Colour from one item if you have another armor type version with same Appearance AND Colour. Example: You dont have one unique mail gauntlets but you have another plate gauntlets with same Appearance/Colour, then you can unlock that item in your mail and plate characters with the plate version only

I read somewhere all you have to do is to "encounter" an item to unlock it in wardrobe. Also all rewards from every completed quest will be unlocked, including items you didnt choose. Doesn't that mean you don't need to wear something to get it unlocked?

EDIT.

OK. I just found the patch notes - it appears all items encountered AND soulbound become unlocked. I guess you can call quest rewards soulbound.

keep in mind, to sink a bit of gold, they may actually make those crates "grey" and not usable anymore.

Even if they do that (we can see that when the 7.0 Patch hits the PTR), we can open the boxes and mail those greens/blues to alts. So nothing to worry about.

I just hope we get "storage" before LEgion. My regular one is full + 90% of the bags in bank on my main are full with trans stuff.
