Hey guys, in this guide I will tell you how to quickly gain ranks in the Brawlers Guild, a level 90 (MoP only) feature in which players fight bosses to test how good they are at solo content. This guide does not show any exploits that cause you to easily down the bosses, but instead helps you focus on the mechanics and abilities of the bosses that will help you win, and also help you succeed in the long run.
What this guide includes-

Brawler's Guild Invitation
First, an overview of how to get into the Brawler's Guild. There are currently three ways to get into the Brawlers Guild. The first being that you can buy an invitation, called Blood-Soaked Invitation - Item - World of Warcraft, which you can buy from the BMAH for approximately 1000-3000g right now. When the Brawler's Guild first opened, they were selling for over 10k gold. The second way that you can find the invitation to the Brawler's Guild is in the form of farming three rare mobs. These mobs are -
Muerta - NPC - World of Warcraft
Kar Warmaker - NPC - World of Warcraft
Ubunti the Shade - NPC - World of Warcraft
At level 91, these mobs have a few powerful attacks, but are relatively soloable if you have an ilvl over 450.
The final way to gain an invitation in the Brawler's Guild is the least likely that you will get one. It requires you to have a friend/guildie that is currently in the Brawler's Guild. Once they achieve Rank 7 and get the achievement, they will be awarded only ONE pass to give out. However, it is BoE. Because of this, if you do not have a really good friend who promises to give it to you, they will most likely choose to sell it, most for over 5k. Personally, the method I recommend is farming it from the rare mobs, mainly because the drop chance isnt that low.
Finally, now that you have the invitation, you can head to the Brawler's Guild. For Alliance players, head to the Deeprun Tram in the Dwarven District of Stormwind, and for Horde, head to the Brawl'Gar Arena in the Valley of Honor. Once inside, you are able to queue for a battle by talking to one of the NPCs inside. (Dont forget to use your invitation/right-click it) You are now able to start fighting.
Achievements
In the Brawler's Guild, you are able to earn a total of eight achievements for doing tasks related to the Brawler's Guild, excluding the one where you receive the invitation. You can earn these achievements by ranking up, taking a portal to the opposing faction's city, attacking spectators, cheering at your fellow brawlers, and much more. You can find these achievements in the "World Events" tab of your achievement pop-up.
The First Rule of Brawler's Guild - Achievement - World of Warcraft
You earn this achievement once you receive an invitation from either the BMAH, your friend, or one of the rare mobs that you kill. You must have this achievement before you are able to fight/participate in the Brawler's Guild.
You Are Not Your $#*@! Legplates - Achievement - World of Warcraft
You earn this achievement once you kill Bruce, the first (and easiest) boss in the Brawler's Guild. This achievement, and the entire Brawler's Guild, is a reference to the movie, "Fight Club." See below for information on Bruce, as well as the rest of the bosses in the Brawler's Guild.
The Second Rule of Brawler's Guild - Achievement - World of Warcraft
You earn this achievement by defeating all the bosses from Rank 1- Rank 6- and achieving the prestigious Rank 7. As a reward for being so pro in the Brawler's Guild, you are given a Brawler's Pass - Item - World of Warcraft so you can invite even more people to join in the fun of the Brawler's Guild.
Brawlin' and Shot Callin' - Achievement - World of Warcraft
Prestige. Rank. Fame. Bragging Rights. You have reached Rank 8, and defeated all the bosses from Rank 1- Rank 7. As you are one of few who have been able to achieve this much, you are given a special cosmetic title, the "Brawler," in which you get to flaunt around to your guild-mates, watching them drool in jealousy, wishing they had this title.
Now You're Just Showing Off - Achievement - World of Warcraft
You get this achievement by killing every Rank 8 rare boss, including Epicus Maximus, Disruption, Millhouse Manastorm, and Zen'shar. Currently, if you are the first person on the realm to do this achievement, there will be a shout-out to the server proclaiming your awesomeness. Prepare for gratzes and QQing!
Haters Gonna Hate - Achievement - World of Warcraft
To get this achievement, you must have at least one friend to help you. When you are about to begin fighting, they must begin to throw either Rotten Watermelon - Item - World of Warcraft, Rotten Banana - Item - World of Warcraft, or Rotten Apple - Item - World of Warcraft. Get your friend to hit you with at least 10 of these items. Notice- the debuff is removed after 20 seconds, so make sure not to let it drop.
Bottle Service - Achievement - World of Warcraft
Sometimes, if a player wins or loses a battle, an NPC (Spectator) becomes angry, probably because they bet against the player, or against the boss. They will then aggro the closest person to them, within a set distance (I think 20 yards). In order to get this achieve, the player must buy a Expired Blackout Brew - Item - World of Warcraft, and throw it at the NPC, whether they are attacking the player or not.
I'm Your Number One Fan - Achievement - World of Warcraft
To get this achievement, wait for a player to win a brawl, then emote /cheer at them.
Rabble Rabble Rabble - Achievement - World of Warcraft
At random intervals, an NPC, either Zippi Gallox - NPC - World of Warcraft, if horde, or Willard "Bubbles" Wilcox - NPC - World of Warcraft, will create a portal to the opposing faction's home city- either Stormwind or Orgrimmar. To get the achievement, simply take the portal.
Notice- Some people have stated that if 20+ people are in the Brawler's Queue at one time, then the portal will spawn (I have not tested this, but the comments on WoWhead confirm this)
Rewards
Everytime that you are successful in a fight, and down a boss, you are rewarded with a Brawler's Purse - Item - World of Warcraft, which contains mostly trash items, but sell for a pretty high price, up to the Theldren's Rusted Runeblade - Item - World of Warcraft, worth 150g when sold to a vendor.
Rank 4- You are able to purchase a battle pet, Clock'em - Item - World of Warcraft from the Brawler's Guild Quartermaster.
Rank 7- You get an achievement, as well as a Brawler's Pass - Item - World of Warcraft to invite someone to the Brawler's Guild- BoE by the way, so you are able to sell it.
Rank 8- You get a title, named "Brawler," and are able to buy the heirloom, Brawler's Razor Claws - Item - World of Warcraft.
The Fights!
Rank 1- Bruce, Vian, Goredome, Vishas
Bruce-
Bruce is a giant crocodile with only 1.6mil health to start. Surprisingly easy for ranged, and pretty easy for melee as well. Bruce only has one important ability, called Chomp Chomp Chomp - Spell - World of Warcraft. This ability is an instant-kill ability- most of the time- as long as you stay in front of him when he finishes casting it. For melee, it is important to immediately run around to his back when you see him begin to cast it. For ranged, you are able to kite him around, and if you stay far enough away, never have to worry about that ability, making this fight really easy for ranged.
Sidenote- If you are planning to fight in the Brawler's Guild, I advise that you get a DPS set instead of a healing/tanking one. The bosses have a strict enrage timer of (more or less) 2 minutes, making the DPS requirement important as you progress. The first rank can be done in a tanking set, but Rank 2+ is pushing it.
Vian-
A little harder than Bruce, with a few important abilities to avoid. For one, make sure to avoid all the flames that he puts down on the ground, especially Volatile Flames - Spell - World of Warcraft, which does a lot of damage on you, especially if you are DPSing or have a low ilvl. Besides this, Vian also uses a spell called Fire Line - Spell - World of Warcraft, which places down a line of fire in front of him. Again, use the same idea as Bruce, and run around to his back when he begins to cast this. The main idea of this fight is to avoid all the fire, and DPS the boss until dead.
Goredome-
Pretty easy boss, with mechanics that are easily explainable. Avoid Lumbering Charge - Spell - World of Warcraft at all costs! Immediate death, with 1.5mil damage being done to you. However, whenever Goredome starts to cast it, he will stop attacking and a red circle will appear on the ground where he will cast it. Run out of that circle immediately. Other than that, there are no other notable abilities that will do damage to you, and you should kill him easily.
Vishas-
A semi-hard boss for melee, not very hard for ranged as long as the player is good at kiting. This boss has one important ability, called Heated Pokers - Spell - World of Warcraft. This spell causes all of Vishas's melee attacks to deal 50k extra damage, which will kill most players/pets who are near the boss. To avoid this, immediately stun/interrupt Vishas as soon as you see him casting the spell. He will also /yell something when he decides to cast it, which can be taken as a sign of the ability. Even if you forget to stun/interrupt this spell, the fight is still livable, as long as you use all your CC/damage reduction abilities, and run away from him for 8 seconds, until the buff runs out. Rinse and repeat until he is dead.
Rank 2- Dippy, Kirrawk, Fran/Riddoh, King Kulaka
Dippy-
This fight is pretty straightforward. You are being chased by a tiny cute little murderous penguin who will one-shot you. If he gets close enough to you, he will immediately start casting an ability called, Peck - Spell - World of Warcraft, which does 1.5mil damage. However, Dippy can be knocked back every time you successfully hit him with an attack. Because of this, you need to hit him with quick, little cast time attacks that do damage. The amount of damage is not relevant to the space that he is knocked back, making it a priority to get in as many attacks as you can. If you are still having problems with the fight, I recommend to buy the Ghost Iron Dragonling - Item - World of Warcraft, which will use a few extra attacks to knock him back.
Kirrawk-
This fight is a change from the fights that we have been given early on in Rank 1-2. Instead of avoiding abilities, you are required to know your surroundings as well as be aware of what is going on in the fight. During the fight, Kirrawk spawns a tornado that chases you around the room. This mechanic requires you to run behind Kirrawk, so that he is between you and the tornado, forcing the tornado to hit him instead. If you get hit by the tornado, you are most likely going to die. I recommend you to stack on the boss, so that even if the tornado hits you, Kirrawk will be hit as well. Besides this, Kirrawk does not have any important abilities to worry about.
Fran/Riddoh-
This fight is interesting, and is one of the first DPS checks that we encounter. We fight two enemies, one called Riddoh, an ogre, and the other is called Fran, a goblin who rides on Riddoh's back. They do not share health, and so you have to DPS them seperately. Depending on which you kill first causes the fight to take on a much easier path. When both Fran and Riddoh are still alive, they have a few important abilities, such as Throw Dynamite - Spell - World of Warcraft, Throw Net - Spell - World of Warcraft, which is then immediately followed by Goblin Device - Spell - World of Warcraft. This summons a fan of land mines around you, which you must immediately jump out of or you die. If you hit a land mine, you blow them up and die as well. However, to escape this, there is an opening between two mines which you must jump out of
Notice- If Fran casts Throw Dynamite - Spell - World of Warcraft while you are in the minefield, all the mines will blow up, making it a priority to escape the field ASAP.
If you decide to kill Fran first, which is the harder fight, Riddoh uses a "soft" berserk which causes him to do 250% more damage. Because of this, it is recommended that you kill Riddoh first, even though that Fran is the one that spawns the mines.
King Kulaka-
Big dinosaur, big teeth, big damage, small brain. King Kulaka will follow you around the room, doing damage. He has no abilities except for Dash - Spell - World of Warcraft, which will increase his movement speed by 60%, making it harder to kite him.
Strategy (Ranged)- This fight is relatively easy, as long as you pop a stun/CC whenever he casts Dash. If he gets close to you, pop your Damage Reduction CDs so that you don't take much damage during the fight (he hits like a truck). Also pop offensive CDs at the beginning to get the most out of your DPS
Strategy (Melee)- Lot harder. Unlike ranged, you will not be able to kite him, and therefore, will be hit with his attacks. Each of his attacks does heavy damage, up to 80k on leather wearers. For melee to beat this guy, I recommend that you pop your Avoidance/Damage reduction CDs early in the fight, as well as your offensive CDs, so that you will be able to hurt/kill him quickly without him being able to kill you. For melee, healing abilities/potions are a must, so I recommend to use Brawler's Healing Potion - Item - World of Warcraft to help with the heals- use on emergencies. I also advise you to stock up on bandages, and if you need any healing during the fight, you should pop a stun on the guy, and immediately begin to use the bandage to get off a few heals (usually 10-30k depending on length of stun) (Fears work) Besides this, the fight is mostly a tank/spank.
Rank 3- Blat, Sanoriak, Ixx, Mazhareen
Blat-
Blat is a green ooze that periodically, during the fight, casts Split - Spell - World of Warcraft, Because of this spell, Blat can split into up to 20+ adds, each with their own health pool of 2.5mil. Because of this, it is impossible to kill the adds. However, the adds move significantly slower than the rest of the oozes, making this fight relatively easy.
Strategy (Melee)- Attack Blat until he splits, then keep backpedaling while attacking. Blat will stay close enough to the player so that he can be hurt, but the rest of the oozes will move slow enough so that they will not be a problem. Pop offensive CDs at the beginning of the fight so that you dont have to be on the move, backpedaling and attacking at the same time.
Notice- Look out for corners behind you if you're melee- make sure you know where you are facing
Strategy (Ranged)- This fight is also relatively simple, mainly because ranged can be pros at kiting, of which this fight is all about. Use all AoE slows, if any, which will keep the oozes from getting too close to you. Pop all offensive CDs (for both melee and ranged) at the beginning of the fight, mainly because you dont have to be on the move, avoiding the oozes until later, which will allow you to do more DPS.
Sanoriak-
Sanoriak is a flamewalker of the same type as those from Molten Core. Fighting him is mostly a chore of looking at what abilities he's casting, and knowing whether to interrupt, or GTFO of the way. Every single one of Sanoriak's abilities can be interrupted, but the most notable one is called Firewall - Spell - World of Warcraft. This spell is almost a one-hit kill ability, and will kill you unless you get out of it very quickly. It has about a 20 second CD. Remember to save your interrupts for this spell, so that you do not have to move around that much during the fight.
Strategy (Melee)- Stand and DPS the boss, soaking up all of his abilities. Most of them dont do much damage, with the exception of Firewall, which i explained earlier. Save your interrupts for this ability, so that you dont have to move around as much. Besides this, pop all your offensive CDs after he casts the first Firewall, and DPS him until dead.
Strategy (Ranged)- Move around, still attacking the boss, focus less on the interrupts, and focus more on the spells he is casting. Since you will not be interrupting as much, be ready to move when he casts Firewall.
Ixx-
You will most probably die on this boss once before understanding the mechanics of the fight. Ixx is a giant silithid, with only 2mil health. Throughout the fight, he will cast this one ability, called Devastating Thrust - Spell - World of Warcraft, which is a one-hit kill if caught inside. Ixx casts it in a cone-shape in front of him, which causes the players to be forced to stack on top of him. This makes the fight especially hard for ranged, and easier for melee. When stacking on the boss, watch for when he starts to cast Devastating Thrust, and run right through him. Rinse and repeat.
Mazhareen-
Mazhareen, the jungle cat, has the same skin of that of Loque'Nahak, the coveted hunter pet. Like his [brother?] he is unique in one of his abilities. He does more damage as he loses more health. Because of this mechanic, it is necessary for ranged to kite the cat as they damage him, and for melee to use a different strategy, that I will explain later. Like many of the other bosses,
Strategy (Ranged)- Kite the boss, or else be one-shot as the cat chases them. All slows, fears, stuns, and CCs work on this guy, which you should use to your advantage. Pop CDs at 50%
Strategy (Melee)- Lot harder time with this boss. Since melee is forced to stack when DPSing this boss, they will have to use a different strategy to down her. First, at the beginning of the fight, melee should use all their DoTs, but save all their CDs, stuns, and other CCs for later. Once the cat is at 50% health, she will begin to do much more damage to the player. At this time, melee should pop all of their CDs, and nuke the hell out of this cat. Use all your stuns as well, and if all goes wrong, pop Damage Reduction spells or use a healing potion to regain a bit of your health (hopefully enough time to kill her). Since she only has 1.8mil health, make sure to pop all your CDs and stuns once she goes under 1mil.
Rank 4- Crush, Leona Earthwind, Dominika the Illusionist, Deekin
Crush-
This fight is the main DPS check that allows players to continue if they can dish out the 5.2mil damage in under two minutes. THis translates to just over 43k DPS, a feat that is incredibly easy if you have an ilvl of over 465, and know how to play your class. Besides the DPS check, this fight is actually pretty easy, for both melee and ranged. All a player needs to do is to avoid his one ability, called Collision - Spell - World of Warcraft, in which Crush charges at a player, (incredibly slowly- very easy to avoid) and if hit, does about 100k-150k damage to the player, stunning them for a bit, which affects the DPS needed considerably. It is very easy to avoid this, so if you are barely making the DPS check, make sure to avoid these.
Leona Earthwind-
This fight is semi-hard, in which you fight a druid who routinely summons adds, silences players, and uses casting abilities. All of these abilities are easily countered, however, for both melee and ranged. First off, her adds that she summons only have about 50,000 health each, which makes them easy to drop. However, they do about 10k damage pet hit, so kill them quickly. Leona summons three adds at a time, of which another way to counter this is to stun her while she is channeling these adds, causing them not to spawn. Her silences are very easy to avoid- just step out of the glowing yellow circle on the ground. If you are able to counter these two abilities, you should have no problem with the fight, both for melee and for ranged.
Dominika the Illusionist-
Probably the hardest of any fight we have done so far- except for maybe Ixx. This boss spawns multiple copies of herself, each with 1 health, so that even a single hit will kill them. However, they each hit for about 10k damage, and she spawns them fairly quickly, so it is necessary to use all AoE attacks, as well as any Avoidance/Spell Reflection/Damage Reduction abilities that you may have. If you decide to go for an all-out burn on Dominika, you might live, but you need to do enough DPS. I think that in about a minute, enough adds will spawn to kill you, so you need to do about 45k DPS in order to kill her. I may be wrong about the time it takes for the adds to clump up, and it may be closer to 30 seconds- so do about 60-70k if you want to just burn her. If not, just use all of your AoE abilities (Flame Trap for Hunts, DnD for DKs, Arcane Explosion for Mages, etc.) If you have an AoE effect that you can place down, so much the better.
Deekin-
This is the first boss that spawns a moving effect that can kill you if you stand in it. Besides that, this boss is also the first to place an emphasis on movement, and seeing if you can kite (for ranged), as well as avoid the lightning on the ground, which will do 70k damage if you touch it.
Strategy (Ranged)- First, set your camera to a "bird's eye view, as well as zoom out, which helps you see the direction in which the lighting is coming, and helps you avoid it. Look for openings through which to run, and if necessary, you can jump over the lightning. The reason why this fight is a lot harder for ranged is that you are forced to kite the boss, as well as dodge the lightning, which can take a few tries to master.
Notice- In order to be able to see the lightning better, make sure to set your particle density (found in settings) to a higher setting.
Strategy (Melee)- Just that of a normal tank/spank, only that you need to avoid the lightning. To help see the lightning, avoid placing down any AoE effects that affect the floor. This can also be true for ranged (Hunter- use no traps)
Rank 5- Millie Watt, Fjoll, Proboscus, Leper Gnome Quintet
Millie Watt-
First boss that starts to get hard and has strange mechanics. She has two abilities of note, of which all must be countered or dealt with. The first spell that is necessary to know how to deal with is called Megafantastic Discombobumorphanator - Spell - World of Warcraft, and the other is called Electric Dynamite - Spell - World of Warcraft. Both of these abilities complement each other, in the way that for one to be countered, you have to be hit by the other ability. For example, the Metafantastic Discobumorphanator turns you into a chicken, and does 70k damage every second. For this to be removed, the player has to stand in the Electric Dynamite. Because of this, this fight is not just a normal kiting/DPS fight. You have to stand next to/in-between the electric pools while you wait for her to cast Electric Dynamite.
Strategy (Melee)- Normal fight, except that you have to use the Electric Dynamite to remove the polymorph. Do do this, keep circling around the boss, waiting for her to drop the rings of electricity (Electric Dynamite) When she drops one, stand right next to it, and move only when another ring is placed where you are standing. Keep circling clockwise around the boss, waiting for her to cast the Metafantastic Discobumorphanator. When she does, and you see her begin to cast it, immediately run inside one of the circles and wait for her to finish the cast. When she does so, you will be turned into a chicken, and immediately turned back out. Run out of the rings after this, and repeat. Pop your CDs either at the beginning, or at 25% if DPS is tight. If you have stuns, and dont have any healing spells open, you should stun her, stopping her from casting the spell.
Strategy (Ranged)- Similar to that of melee, if not the same. You, again, have to stand in the rings once she casts the Discobumorphanator, and circle around the boss so that you are not too far away. If you have any stuns, again, use them when she is using the Discobumorphanator, and pop all your CDs at the beginning when you are standing still so that you can get the most out of your DPS.
Fjoll-
Big undead zombie- not very hard in terms of DPS/mechanics- probably the easiest one in Rank 5. Even so, this fight is a lot easier the quicker you kill him, namely because of how he places purple flames on the ground, that are actually very hard to see. The longer the fight lasts, the more flames will be put on the ground, and the chance of you stumbling into one increases. Besides this, Fjoll has an knockback, in which he throws you backwards into the air. It is important to be either stacked against a wall, or close to one, because of how the knockback can slam you into one of the purple flames, instantly killing you. Besides this, Fjoll has an ability called Dark Barrage - Spell - World of Warcraft, which fires a barrage of shadow-bolts at the player. Finally, he has an ability called Darkzone - Spell - World of Warcraft. To avoid these abilities, you can stack up against a wall, avoiding the purple flames, to avoid the knockback, and you can also interrupt Dark Barrage, helping with your health. Dark Barrage doesn't do much damage anyway. Finally, you must remember to run out of Darkzone when he begins to cast it (much like Pillage, cast by Subetai the Swift, in MsV)
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- Stack up against the wall, and avoid the purple flames at all costs. Don't worry about the knockback when you're up against the wall. Also interrupt his Dark Barrage if low on health, pop CDs at the beginning of the fight, and run out of Darkzone when he begins to cast it. Also, it's hard to see the radius of the purple flames, so try not to get anywhere near them.
Proboscus-
This guy shares the same skin as the Black Stalker in Underbog, and is one of the harder bosses in Rank 5. He shares many of the abilities with those of the water-based MoP rares found in Krarasang and in other places. He has two abilities of note, the first being, Rain Dance - Spell - World of Warcraft, which, much like the MoP rares, summons a shower of water that does 100k+ damage, depending on if Proboscus is beserked or not. If hit by more than one of these, you are most likely dead. His other ability of note is called Torrent - Spell - World of Warcraft. This ability is very dangerous to the player, and unless is interrupted, will kill him/her. Make sure to save your interrupts for this. Besides these two abilities, Proboscus has something unique about him that is different than all the other bosses. He has a literal berserk timer that is different than the one in which fire rains down. After about [a minute?] (unsure about this- i've heard rumors of it being longer/shorter) Proboscus will enrage, and do 900% more damage. He will one-shot you. In order to beat this enrage timer, you have to do about 50k+ DPS throughout the fight, even when avoiding rain dance/interrupting torrent.
Strategy (Melee)- Stack on top of the boss, use offensive CDs early in the fight so that you can make DPS requirement. Remember to save your interrupts for the Torrent, as well as hope to be lucky for Rain Dance. (does not land on a player like the MoP ones do- you can walk into it) If he does enrage, hope to stun him for as long as you can to get a few hits off before he kills you
Strategy (Ranged)- Try to kite him around for a while, dont let him get too close because he "hits like a mac truck." If he gets too close to you, pop a Damage Reduction or Absorb CD. Use all Offensive CDs early in the fight to beat the enrage timer, but keep your interrupts for the torrent. Pray to the RNG gods for Rain Dance- nothing you can do there except run around and hope not to be hit- and, if he does enrage, use stuns/slows to keep him away from you for a short period of time to get a bit more DPS in.
Leper Gnome Quintet-
Annoying l'il bastards- There are five of them to start, and each starts with a different amount of health, ranging from 500k to 1.8mil. In order to beat this group, you MUST be able to do a good amount of AoE damage. If possible, switch to your spec which does the most amount of AoE (Survival for hunters). The Quintet has two abilities that you must try and avoid. Leperous Spew - Spell - World of Warcraft is their only offensive attack. Once the Quintet is within range of you, they will immediately start applying stacks of this debuff to you, which can stack up to 20 times. If it gets up to 15+ stacks, you're most likely screwed. Their other ability is called Determined Shuffle - Spell - World of Warcraft, and makes it harder to CC the gnomes, giving them the ability to move faster as well as be immune to CC effects for 2 seconds, giving them enough time to reach you.
Strategy (Ranged)- The new DPS check that you face before going into Rank 6- this one AoE based. In order to beat this group, you must be able to do over 75,000 DPS in 2 minutes, a feat that isn't that hard if you have good AoE abilities. In order to beat this group, immediately slow them- do not snare/trap/root or they will break free and gain 40% movement speed buff. Keep using AoE abilities and kiting them until dead. Remember to refresh your slows as they run out, and don't let them get too close or your health will drop rapidly. Use Brawler's Potions to help beat the enrage timer.
Strategy (Melee)- Unsure of how to do this as melee- all i know is that you have to have a way to drop the stacks.
Rank 6- Yikkan Izu, Akama, Smash Hoofstomp, Unguloxx
Yikkan Izu-
This guy shares the Raven Lord skin, and is the first boss in Rank 6. Unlike many of the earlier bosses, except for Proboscus, he also has an enrage. However, this enrage is only triggered when one kills over five of the adds that he spawned- at one time. You are able to kill as many adds as you need to stay alive, as long as you wait for the stacks (Yikkan Izu gains stacks of a buff when an add is killed- if he gets to five stacks, he enrages) to drop off. It takes about four seconds to drop off. Besides spawning the adds, and having the berserk buff, Yikkan Izu really only has one more ability- Disorienting Shriek - Spell - World of Warcraft. Try to interrupt it at all costs.
Strategy (Melee)- Without the adds to help him, Yikkan Izu will not do that much damage to you, unless he enrages. To deal with this mechanic, since Izu only spawns four adds at a time, you must either ignore them, and suffer the damage, (10k per add) or kill them the second they spawn. If you have an AoE to place on the ground, do so. It allows you to be able to DPS Izu quicker, and not worry so much about the adds (i.e. DnD) Keep interrupting/stunning the boss as he casts Disorienting Shriek, and you should be good to go. The only problem that people ever have on this fight is the adds. Also, don't forget to use your offensive CDs as soon as your AoE on the ground (if you have one) runs out. If you are lacking an AoE, use them at the beginning of the fight.
Strategy (Ranged)- For this fight, ranged DPS actually have a harder time of dealing with the boss, but not so much as the adds, because of their numerous AoE abilities. In order to beat this boss, you must immediately prevent him from enraging, and kill the birds the second they spawn. Also, in order not to be disoriented, and therefore be killed, you must remember to interrupt/stun the boss. Finally, you must slow/kite the boss around the room, killing his adds as they spawn in order not to have too much damage done to you. Use your CDs at the beginning of the fight so that you can down the boss quicker/easier. Another method in which to kill Izu, if you are really good at kiting, is to ignore the adds and DPS the boss as fast as possible.
Akama-
This boss is a relatively easy fight in which the objective is to DPS down the boss, watching for when he summons adds as well as for what spells that he casts. He has a few that are necessary to watch out for, otherwise your health will drop quick. The first ability is called Thunderstorm - Spell - World of Warcraft, and knocks you back fifteen yards if you are too close to the boss. His second ability is one that needs to be interrupted, and is calledChain Lightning - Spell - World of Warcraft. It does about 100-150k damage to the player, which is stilll survivable, but, coupled with the damage he and his adds also do, will be a major hazard during the fight.
Besides this, Akama is also able to summon adds (Two Spirit Wolves) using the ability, Feral Spirit - Spell - World of Warcraft, which each do about 15k damage per hit. While not fatal, if you have to go the entire fight while the wolves are attacking you, the healing requirement might grow as your health lowers. Because of this, I advise the ranged to kite the pets, and melee to soak the damage, mainly because, for melee, the damage is not as severe, whereas some ranged classes are lacking on heals. Finally, Akama's last ability is one that grows more dangerous the longer the fight lasts. Shadow Strikes - Spell - World of Warcraft, which imbues his attacks with shadow damage, taking a toll on the player if the adds are out at the same time.
Strategy (Melee)- Since this boss doesn't have any special mechanics like the rest, if you are able to avoid/counter his abilities, this fight should be a cakewalk for melee. First, all DPS, (Melee and Ranged) should pop offensives CDs at the beginning to get the most DPS out of their abilities, without having to deal with the adds at the same time. For melee, save your defensive CDs for about 20%, when you begin to take more damage. Always remember to interrupt Chain Lightning, and don't worry about Thunderstorm, since it is of little importance to melee.
Strategy (Ranged)- This boss is actually harder for ranged because of the damage that Akama inflicts while his adds are up and his weapons are imbued. Kite Akama around the room, and watch out for his pets. To make the fight easier, if you wish, you can kill the adds, but realize that Akama will only re-summon them in a little while. Only choose do do this method if you are able to pull 60k+ DPS. Remember to interrupt Chain Lightning, as well, pop all offensive CDs at the beginning, and (if any) pop defensive CDs once Akama gets to close to you.
Smash Hoofstomp-
This boss, a Tauren Warrior, begins with having 8mil health. However, he also begins with using two "Good Luck" Goblins on his shoulders, that, when killed, cause him to take 100% more damage. Each of the goblins have just over 300k health each. Because of this mechanic, the fight is relatively easy to defeat, and is probably the easiest in all of Rank 6. He has two abilities of note, each of which actually help the player instead of harm them. His first ability is called Tough Luck (no link from WoWhead, and causes him to take 100% more damage, like I explained earlier. His second ability is called Shield Waller, (again no link) and causes him to stand still, and channel an ability in which he is able to block all damage coming from his front. This allows the player to rest, heal, or run behind and DPS him.
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- For this boss, when he first spawns, immediately kill the "Good Luck" Goblins on his shoulders as fast as possible. Once killed, Smash will take 100% extra damage, of which this is the time to immediately pop all offensive CDs. DPS him down as quickly as possible, running behind him when he casts Shield Waller. No need to pop defensive CDs, as Smash doesn't do much damage by himself, and instead save healing for when he is casting Shield Waller. For ranged, kite him around so that you are able to stay away from his attacks.
Unguloxx-
This boss is relatively easy for ranged, but a big pain for melee. Even though he only has sub 3.1mil health, he "hits like a veritable truck," doing about 65k damage normally, per hit, and criticals of up to 150k damage. He actually has no abilities to speak of, his damage making him a worthy enemy anyway. However, you will need potions of healing, just in case, as well as buffs and a feast.
Strategy (Ranged)- In order to beat this boss, you MUST be able to kite him around, not letting him get close enough to hit you, otherwise he will kill you quickly. However, if backed into a corner, you should pop all defensive CDs/Absorbs that you may have, which will allow you to live until you can get far enough away to be safe. Rinse and repeat until dead.
Strategy (Melee)- The strategy for melee is a lot different than that of ranged. For example, this boss does so much damage, that it is very hard for a player to defeat him in DPS spec. For this reason, and also the reason why this boss has so little health, I recommend to go tank-spec for this boss. Even so, it is still a race for the enrage timer, so stock up on all flasks, buffs, as well as a feast if possible. Make sure to spread out your CDs (or pop them all at once) to keep the DPS even. In order to beat the enrage timer, you HAVE to do a minimum DPS of at least 26k, which is doable in tank-spec. If you decide to go DPS for this fight, make sure to stock up on healing potions, balance out your stuns/defensive CDs (use a CD when your stun is about to run out) and be buffed up to drop this guy as fast as possible.
Rank 7- GG Engineering, Dark Summoner, Battletron, Meatball
Notice- for Rank 7, the strategies for Melee and Ranged are more or less the same
GG Engineering-
Definitely the hardest boss we have faced so far, this team of GG Engineering includes two bosses, Max Megablast and Bo Bobble. They both share a health pool of over 12 million. Max Megablast is constantly spamming an ability called Goblin Rocket Barrage - Spell - World of Warcraft at players over the course of the fight, and whatever they hit, they do MASSIVE amounts of damage. The rockets have an impact zone graphic that will show on the ground seconds before the missile blows up. Needless to say, players need to avoid this zone when the impact occurs. The key to this fight is sticking close to Bo Bobble and let the impacts explode on him. He has his own relatively devastating ability, called Gnomish Death Ray - Spell - World of Warcraft, which does damage of over 60k with each hit. It is not interruptible. Surviving this is the second key to winning this fight. Players will need to stun/trap/freeze/heal through this ability/use defensive CDs to survive this onslaught of damage. Simply healing through this can work, but not putting any extra damage into the bosses can often cause players to hit the 2 minute mark before dispatching them.
Another ability of note is called Shielded - Spell - World of Warcraft, which will put a shield around Bo and protect those within it to take no damage. However, the shield itself can be damaged by the incoming missile attack. Players should enter the shield immediately after seeing it appear, to have it destroyed promptly, as seconds are precious currency during this fight. Even though players are within the shield, it is smart to still avoid the impact zones as the shield has been known to glitch and allow damage through anyway.
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- Both melee and ranged will equally have a hard time with this fight, since both will be forced to stack on the boss. You must pop offensive CDs at the beginning of the fight, when Max isn't currently firing the rockets, to help with the steady DPS, and move in a circle around the boss, moving out of the way of the rockets, and letting them explode on Bo. You must either stun/trap/freeze/heal/use defensive CDs to live through Bo's ability- Gnomish Death Ray, which will do 70k damage per hit. Bo casts it about once every five seconds. Besides these two mechanics, remember to run to the shield as quick as possible once the team casts Shielded, and wait for it to be destroyed. As I said earlier, this shield can glitch, so avoid the rockets anyway while inside.
Dark Summoner-
This boss is reasonably hard, especially to ranged, as this guy is essentially a spell-caster. At first, the Dark Summoner is is immune to all damage, due to his ability called Dark Protection - Spell - World of Warcraft. He only takes damage for 10 seconds after using his ability called Summon Ghost - Spell - World of Warcraft and one of his ghosts is killed. Players will need to stun the ghosts or destroy them from ranged as they have a melee attack that will one shot players. The ghosts have a relatively low amount of HP- only about 300k.
Besides this, Dark Summoner has a Shadowbolt attack that does a reasonably high amount of damage from ranged, but can be interrupted. He also has a high damage melee attack which cannot be interrupted but will need to be absorbed/mitigated by any defensive CDs that the player might have. Finally, the player has one ability which allows him/her to stun the ghosts, being able to kill them. This ability is a light-beam that is shone out from the player, to a radius of about 20 yards, in whichever way the player is facing. If a ghost is caught in the beam, it will be stunned and easily killed.
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- The strategy this boss, is to start by, first waiting for a ghost to spawn, being unable to hurt the boss otherwise, and immediately shining the light beam on the ghost when it does. Immediately kill it, then pop all offensive CDs. The Dark Summoner will now be vulnerable. Immediately DPS the boss, killing him as fast as possible in 10 seconds, until his shield recharges. Watch for ghosts that spawn while you are attacking he boss, maneuvering so that the boss is between you and the ghost, allowing you to shine the light-beam on the ghost, and still attack the boss. Rinse and repeat until the boss is dead. Don't forget to interrupt Shadowbolt whenever you are able to. For ranged, during this fight, make sure to kite the boss up and down the middle- try to stay as far away from the sides as possible. Also (for melee) if you are taking too much damage, try and go tank since the enrage isn't that tight.
Battletron-
Battletron begins the fight by surrounding himself by using an ability called, Protected by Unstable Mines - Spell - World of Warcraft which will summon a ring of mines that will do massive damage to anyone or any spell that passes through them. Pet's do not seem to affect these mines. The mines will be re-summoned if they either exist for too long, or have less than five in the arena at anytime.
In order to be able to DPS battletron, players should destroy 2-3 mines (preferably 2) creating a gap in Battletron's defense. When a gap is made, players should then circle him, damaging him with everything they have. He has a massive amount of Health (almost 10mil), and this fight is essentially a DPS race. Besides this, he has an instant-cast ability, called Zot! - Spell - World of Warcraft that he spams frequently. It does 40-50k damage per hit, which will cause players to have to maximize the efficiency of any of their defensive CDs. Buffs, Feasts, Potions are a must at this level, as it is important to do the most DPS that you can.
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- To defeat Battletron, one must be able to maintain a steady DPS of well over 80k, which is necessary to beat the two-minute enrage timer. For both melee and ranged, the strategy is mostly the same. First, one must shoot straight through the circle of mines that Battletron creates, creating a gap in the circle. Once a gap has been created, the player must immediately move in a clockwise direction, following the gap as they attack through it. However, another mechanic that makes this fight the hardest so far, is that every time you hit a mine, you immediately get 80-90k damage done to you. BUT, in order to DPS Battletron, then you have to destroy at least 2-3 mines. This causes 160k-270k damage to be done to you every time you with to hurt the guy, making heals, potions, and other buffs a necessity. Besides this, you must make sure, at all times, that you leave at least five mines circling the boss. If you destroy enough so that there is less than five, Battletron will immediately summon more, forcing you to take the 160k-270k damage all over again. Besides this, pop all your offensive CDs while Battletron is channeling the mines in the beginning of the fight, so that you don't have to be on the move when using them. Also, pop defensive CDs when you are forced to damage the mines to create the gap, and use heals or potions to deal with Battletron's Zot.
Meatball-
Probably the easiest fight in all of Rank 7, and even easier than some found in Rank 6. Blizzard created this enemy so that we would be able to have a break, before tacking the Rank 8 bosses. Some of the abilities that Meatball has includes Strange Energy - Spell - World of Warcraft, which causes orbs of energy to spawn around the arena. When the player runs over these orbs, they receive a stacking buff increasing damage and a heal which makes his immense health pool incredibly easy. His melee attacks do hit semi-hard, but if players keep a constant stream of orbs collected, this should prove to be no big problem. Most of the fight will be spent collecting orbs and damaging him while moving. However, if a player has particular trouble attacking on the move, (some melee DPS) then it is suggested to just collect a decent number of orbs, approximately 20 or so and just burn him down. After about a minute or so, Meatball will cast MEATBALL MAD! - Spell - World of Warcraft, which increases Meatball's damage by 250%, causing him to almost one-shot you. At this point, you should have probably picked up enough orbs, and are only DPSing him. With enough orbs, your DPS will be increased by 1000%, which will cause you to do criticals of 1mil+, causing his 24mil health to be a laughable number.
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- The strategy for this fight is actually pretty simple. Kite/run away from Meatball, causing him to follow you as you continually run over purple orbs on the ground. Always try to attack him while you are running for the orbs, especially for ranged. (For Melee)- As you get 20-30 stacks of the buff, immediately pop CDs, and begin to attack the boss. With those stacks, you should kill him quickly. (For Ranged)- Continue to kite him around through this, but pop all CDs at, again, 20-30 stacks. However, continue to collect the orbs as you DPS him, causing him to die even quicker as your Damage Buff increases.
Rank 8- Hexos, Tyson Sanders, T440 Dual-Mode Robot, Anthracite
Hexos-
Hexos is themed heavily on the game Super Hexagon. He attaches himself to your character's face, roots you in place, and begins a 2 minute channel, casting no other abilities (or melee attacking) for the duration of the match. You can rotate freely and always have facing on Hexos no matter what.
Bright purple hexagonal patterns will them start to converge on you. If any of the lines hits Hexos, you die instantly. Since Hexos is always in front of your face, this basically means that as the patterns approach, you need to constantly be turning to face the empty spot -- just like the game the fight is based on. This would be tricky enough on its own, but Hexos still needs to be killed, meaning that you need to perform your DPS rotation the entire time you're spinning to survive the hexagons. You basically can't take your eyes off the battlefield, so make sure you know your cooldowns and timers by heart!
Tyson Sanders-
This fight seemed pretty straightforward when I did it. He runs around throwing three types of chickens. Electro chickens will create a blue void zone. If you get hit, it does pretty massive damage and knocks you back. Explosive chickens (metal with rockets on them) seem to kill you instantly if they touch you. Well fed chickens follow you around and peck you. As they aren't much of a problem, it is simple to kite them around, or even ignore him as it is still possible to beat him with plenty of time to spare.
T440 Dual-Mode Robot-
The gist of this fight is to swap from melee range to...ranged range, then back again every once in a while.
If you are in melee range, he will melee you. If you are at ranged, he will fire rockets randomly about the room. The longer he is in either one, the faster and stronger his attacks will be - he'll get a stacking buff to show this. At about 15 stacks this will start to get overwhelming for most classes. To clear his stacks you have to switch your range so he changes his mode. When he switches he does a burst for what seemed to be about 40k health.
If you're a melee class, you can stun him or use speed boosts to get far away enough for him to swap to ranged mode. If you decide to do it entirely ranged or entirely melee, you have to eat two of those bursts consecutively as he will switch modes twice in a row and thus do the burst twice in a row. If you can mitigate/immune the damage and/or heal it up, great!
Anthracite
The fourth and final boss of Rank 8 of the Brawler's Guild, added in 5.3.
In his normal state, Anthracite is on fire, which causes him to do significant ticking damage (Smoldering Heat) every second as long as the buff is active and causing him to retaliate every time he is struck. Attacking him in this state is a very quick way to kill yourself. He will also occasionally shoot flame patches at you; do not stand in it.
When the fight begins, you get a special action button with one use. This shoots a jet of water out behind you that can cool Anthracite down, causing him to take 50% additional damage and stunning him for a few seconds. This is when you will do most of your damage against him. To use the water jet more than once, you will have to kill adds called Ionized Water that spawn throughout the arena. When they die, they will leave a cloud of mist. Walking through it will give you another use of the water jet to cool down Anthracite.
Special Bosses- Epicus Maximus, Disruption Mk. 3R-Alpha, Millhouse Manastorm, Zen'shar
Epicus Maximus-
Most badass boss in the game... A undead rocker, riding a devilsaur, riding a shark... You can probably guess how hard this fight will be, and is a mix of fluid movement, 90k+ DPS, and being able to interrupt/keep track of spells. The undead rocker, called ROCK ON, use an ability called Pure Rock'n Roll - Spell - World of Warcraft, summoning sonic fields that do MAJOR damage to the player if caught in one. The devilsaur has an ability called Destructolaser - Spell - World of Warcraft, which shoots a beam, doing again, MAJOR damage, which the player must avoid. The beam tracks and tries to follow the player. Finally, the shark... Epicus Maximus will from time to time cast an ability called Blue Crush - Spell - World of Warcraft, which must be interrupted or it WILL kill you.
Strategy (Melee)- Simply attack/nuke the boss down, making sure not to waste CDs or interrupts until necessary, moving away when he casts Destructolaser. Keep your interrupts up until he casts Blue Crush, avoiding the Sonic Circles (Pure Rock'n Roll) as well. At about 50% health, when people seem to lose some DPS, pop your CDs and continue with the strategy listed above. In order to beat this boss, you must do an average of 95k DPS to beat the enrage timer.
Strategy (Ranged)- Unlike melee, who can stand still hitting him, ranged is forced to kite him around- he CAN be slowed. Other than that, the strategy is mostly the same as melee- interrupt Blue Crush, avoid Sonic Circles. However, ranged doesn't have to worry about Destructolaser as much, being too far away when he casts it. Something of note is that he stops moving when he casts Destructolaser, allowing you to stop moving and get a few casts/shots in. Like melee, pop all your CDs at about 50% health, and Timewarp at the beginning, if you have it. Also, as they are constantly on the move, it is harder for ranged to avoid the Sonic Circles, forcing you to pay more attention to them.
Disruption Mk. 3R-Alpha-
A mechanical gnome that moves around the area. He has 10mil health, and also has a totum with 7mil health. During the fight you will have to avoid 3 laser lines that will cross the whole area. To do this, you are forced to jump over them, which often glitches, causing you to be hit. At the same time, some disks that will spawn from a random place ( or from the totem ) will also be criss-crossing around the room. Besides this, the boss casts an ability called [Static Charge] that will stun you- if you are closer than 8 yards from him! As a whole its a pretty hard fight, but i saw several people make it easy by using Levitate - Spell - World of Warcraft. If you enter this fight with a Levitate buff on you, then you will be able to pass over those lasers without jumping. All you will need to do is to find a safe spot from the disks ( If you take damage from the discs, the buff will fade) and DPS the boss until dead!
Strategy- (Melee + Ranged)- The strategy for melee and ranged is pretty similar for this fight, with a few mechanics that make this fight incredibly challenging- the hardest of the four. First, as of patch 5.2, Levitate no longer works on this boss, forcing you to contend with jumping over the lasers. Make sure to jump early, easily clearing the laser, as it sometimes bugs and marks you as being hit. Besides this, as well as the discs being shot out of the cannons, it is mostly a DPS race. Pop all CDs at 50%, like Epicus, if you haven't died. Stay on the boss the whole time- dont worry about the other adds/cannons in the ring.
Millhouse Manastorm-
A l'il gnome with a big temper (remember him from Stonecore?) with almost 50mil Health. Even so, he only has 4 abilities, which are easy to counter/interrupt! These abilities include casting a Frostbolt, which is interruptible , a Shadowbolt, which is also interruptable. Even so, both of those abilities don't do much damage- as long as Millhouse does not have many stacks of the DPS buff I will explain later, called Summon Power Crystals - Spell - World of Warcraft. When Millhouse casts this ability, totems will spawn on a random place in the room. They each have 78k health and cast some "sparks" on Millhouse. In order to counter this, you have to get between Millhouse and the totems, which will give you the stacking DPS buff, instead of him. If Manastorm gets up to 100 stacks of the buff, he will cast Dooooooom! - Spell - World of Warcraft, and kill you. Because of this, you want to give Millhouse as few stacks as possible. His last ability is called Get Off! - Spell - World of Warcraft. It is Millhouse's knockback that does about 100k damage to you if you get too close.
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- Again, this fight is pretty much similar for both melee and ranged, seeing how he never moves from one spot. Besides this, this fight is mostly RNG dependent. If you get good crystal spawns, (Summon Power Crystals) then he's pretty easy to beat. Stay in the path of the crystals, soaking up the buff. Pop all CDs and Timewarp (if you have it) when you reach 100 stacks, nuking the boss down as fast as possible. Make sure not to get too close, or he will cast his knockback, robbing you of a few precious seconds. Besides this, it's a pretty straightforward fight. Something of note, however, for hunters, is that you can place your pet between the crystals and the boss, allowing him to soak up stacks, and saving you time from switching targets.
Zen'shar-
A big bad boss with 7.1milion health! When the fight starts, it has 10 eyes, circling around it, each with 348k health. When you defeat an eye it leaves the boss, flying into the air. It makes a beam that follows a specific rotation around the room! When you defeat all 10 eyes, the boss then become targetable letting you start to DPS the boss. During the whole fight this boss will cast an ability called Evil Glare - Spell - World of Warcraft, which causes you to move around the room to avoid it. Basically, this fight is just an overview of moving around, avoiding the beams from all the floating eyes. Make sure you use potions/flasks/buffs as a necessity, and use all AoE attacks at the beginning. Pop all offensive CDs once the AoE phase is over, and make sure to avoid all of his other abilities.
Strategy (Melee + Ranged)- At the beginning of the fight, LOTS of AoE is necessary. The quicker you down the little adds, the more time you'll have on the boss. After killing the adds, pop all CDs and Timewarp, (If you have it) allowing you to do as much DPS as possible. Keep camera zoomed out as far as it goes, watching for the beams that the little eyes spawn. Besides this, Zen'Shar places down a purple circle on the ground, killing you if you stand there too long. Make sure to move out of this. Besides this, the fight is pretty much the same for both melee and ranged. Keep out of the beams, AoE at the beginning, move out of the purple circles, and you should be fine.
