The newly introduced ilvl 458 PVP gear disenchants into full Ethereal Shards each time. This is a huge upgrade from the small shards you would get 80% of the time from 5.0 gear given that many of the mats are not much more expensive. While it may be profitable to craft and DE from other gear sets, I found cloth wrists to be the cheapest way to mass-produce enchanting mats. These new recipes are learned when you use your daily Imperial Silk cooldown.
The Undermine Journal currently reports the US Horde price of Windwool Cloth to be about 2 gold each. The four bolts to make Crafted Dreadful Gladiator's Cuffs of Prowess, for instance, would cost 40 gold. The US Horde price of Ethereal Shards is about 55-60 gold each. Therefore, for most markets, tailors can make 15-20 gold for each craft by disenchanting their gear. The market should be able to bear a significantly large amount of shards, especially during high-volume times, and you can always shatter them into mysterious essence if they aren't selling fast enough.
