{Tip} In-game web browsing

Hey there!
It might be common knowledge but i found it useful.
So to get a web browser ingame all you have to do is add WoW (or any game) to steam and it Shift+Tab and there will be a browser option.
Here are the steps if you cant figure it out.
1. Open Steam Library.
2. Click "+Add a Game".
3. in the window that pops up select add a non-steam game.
4. That will bring up a panel with all installed programs on your computer. If it is not on this list click browse and direct the path to WoW.Exe
5. Once that is done. You are set, make sure to open it by steam every time which can be done by going into your steam library or right clicking it in your library and creating a desktop shortcut.

How is this beneficial to, say, alt+tabbing out of game? If you're worried about seeing the screen, run your browser in a smaller window.

same is possible with xfire... which is way more soft program that steam...

i think this is actually helpful to those who use the game in fullscreen mode. I play with windowed fullscreen so alt tabbing isnt a problem, if youre in proper fullscreen mode however it takes a while to alt tab and is a little jittery. Also you can steam chat which can help.

I really dont see any reason why anyone would even bother playing Fullscreen instead of Windowed Fullscreen.

On my laptop i get ~80 fps on Fullscreen, ~30 on Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen.

From what I understand running in a windowed mode makes the desktop run as normal and be accesable instantly (ie. using up more resources) and full screen disables the desktop being run in the backround (ie. why it takes a sec to alt + tab)

guess with certain set-ups the resources being run in the backround can effect your wow performance by quite a lot, I know it certainly did wth my old laptop.

Yes, the advantage of NOT running windowed is that it can save FPS... but for most people it's worth it to play windowed verse the few gain of not playing it windowed.

So, I know someone who has a terribly old comp and plays normal not windowed. he'll find this useful. I didn't know about it so +rep from me. Pretty cool

people constantly complain that there isn't enough new wow stuff posted....
Yet when new stuff is posted, they complain it doesn't work for them due to X circumstance.....

You are running WinXP, right? Because windowed in XP = MASSIVE loss of fps
