(Note: this is for people who will be close to their computer while being lazy in a BG. If you are going out you are better off getting an anti-afk bot.)
Hello mmowned, here is your guide for semi-afking in BGs as a rogue. It can also be done as a Druid, but I will be posting glyphs and macros specific for rogues. enjoy!
GLYPHS:
Glyph of sprint OR blurred speed.
Only one of those two will work. IMO sprint is a lot better, as not very many BGs will have any water in the direct path to good afk spots. Glyph of sprint causes your sprint to give a 100% speed boost. Good for starting in BGs where the home base does not allow mounting. Glyph of blurred speed allows water walking while sprinting. This is about personal preference.
Glyph of vanish.
This one is great, one of the cata changes is that for around 5 sec after casting vanish, dmg does not break stealth. This glyph adds two seconds to this. Great for escaping if you are seen, dotted up, and cloak is on CD.
These are the only two glyphs worth while.
SPEC:
Subtlety is the good one for AFKing. Better stealth and lower escape cool downs.
The key talents you'll want:
Elusiveness- must have, it reduces CDs on vanish, cloak, and combat readiness. Vanish and cloak are what you'll be using mostly, so it's great. 2 points here.
Honor among thieves - Your group will win faster. 3 points here
Nightstalker - Speed while stealthed increased, cool down decreased. This plus sprint glyph makes your sprint outrun ground mounts. 2 points in this.
Preparation - Resets CD on vanish and sprint, a very good one for accidental combat
This is all you really need, all other are optional.
Now a macro, only one you really need:
#showtooltip
/cast cloak of shadows
/stopcasting
/cast vanish
Now for strategies:
In the base BGs there are buffs called honorable defender. This gives you a 100% honor increase while near bases your side controls. Your going to want to go to Blacksmith in AB to start off, there will be a fight here to take control. If your team gets it, stay here until the opposing team takes it or the BG ends. If your team does NOT take it, go to a base you do control. Watch chat for Inc calling and go to those bases and hide in a building.
For EotS, at the start go to BET for horde, and DR for alliance. Watch the incoming calls, go to that base. After this use same basic strat as AB, rotating to bases where lots of honor will be earned.
For gilneas, go to your teams starter base. Stay there until it is capped by opposing team or game ends. Rotate bases like in AB and EotS.
The other BGs are tougher to find a good spot for. I have yet to find effective areas for SotA and twin peaks, sorry!
WSG - As a horde, I sit in stealth either in opposing GY, opposing FR, mid, or outside our tunnel Judge your team. If they are mostly all pvp geared with lots of resil, hide out in opposing FR. If the pvp gear is average, with some but not many geared for PvE, get onto a stump in mid, not difficult with some jumping, or opposing GY. If your team has less than avg pvp gear, and lots of people PvE geared go outside your tunnel, this is where your team will be defending against the slightly better geared opposing team.
IoC - listen to your teams chat. In any situation go to hangar first, as there will be many people fighting for it at start. If your team had decided on a defensive game, hang out behind your teams keep. If offensive pray that you won the hangar and go to opposing teams keep and stand behind it. This is behind the walls, not outside of them.
AV - The keep where your teams boss is, not behind boss because AoE may happen there, but in front of him against the wall that you need to run around to the left or right to get to the boss.
(I think that is all the BGs, not sure though)
General tips:
Stay in stealth unless you are rotating bases or heading to idle spot that is far away and free of opposing faction contact
Keep moving. Remember, this is a guide for people who will be at their comp but don't want to play the pvp due to sucking or something. If you keep moving your team will not notice your lack of activity.
Keep quiet. If you criticize someone, they jump into scoreboards and notice your low damage, encourage people to report you for afking, getting you deserter.
Hope you enjoyed, happy hunti- err, idling!
