Get Easy Gold (Level 55+)

Hey guys, this is my first guide here and it's really simple. I currently have a 60 druid with 8k gold from 4 days of doing this. I thought of this idea when I got my first drop from a chest while questing.

Basically what you want to do is go to Silken Treasure Chest - Object - World of Warcraft which is the Silken Treasure Chest. The wowhead map will show you where they all spawn. Next, you want to pick a an area that is between levels 50 and 60. The zones that you can get the drop from are Un'goro Crater, Silithus, Swamp of Sorrows, and Winterspring, but Winterspring has a different chest which I will link at the end.

After you bring up the map, you want to go to all of the locations, and look for chests, I figure the spawn time for them is around 1 day. What you are looking for is Orbs of Deception. On my server they sell for anywhere from 2k-3k gold. These chests have about a 1/40 (edited) chance of having an orb (this is a guess based on the number of drops on wowhead). You should do this 1 time per day for maximum profit. It takes me about 1 1/2 hours to do it on my level 60 druid, and I don't have flying at the moment because I don't have Cataclysm, so it should go much faster with flying.

If you don't get an Orb of Deception, you can usually sell the other blues for around 100g each, some for 50.

What I do is using the "QuickTrak" application you can find in the bots section. Set it up to track "Openable" objects and all chests will appear on your minimap! If you are on a quest its possible that it will also show quest-objects as they are also considered "Openable".

Do keep in mind that such third party addons are bannable offense though, but reading through the QuickTrak thread I have seen none reporting being banned.

well according to wowhead there are 2 different crates acrossed a ton of zones that contain this item both chests have a .18% chance of dropping

i want to thank you though for makin me aware this can now be obtained through means other than the 1 rare up near dire maul....although im sure this has been changed for some time...jsut goes to show how long its been since i farmed this thing XD well anywhos +1 rep giving me something to do....

The chest info on wowhead is actually pretty wrong. The chests scale with zone so if you get a chest in a level 30 zone you're getting level 30 blues. If you get it in a 50 zone there are less blues. This means the drop rate is much higher but because the chest is in so many zones, people loot that version and it goes to the loot table.

Most people don't know about this method of obtaining them, that's why I sell my orbs in just a couple of seconds for 2k+.

I'll post screenshots of me looting an orb today to show you it has a high drop chance, because I found one . But first I have soccer practice, I'll probably go farm after work which is around 5 pm CST.

The path depends on the zone, where you start to farm chests -> just make a "circle" or something in your head where you come out at the end of the zone/beginning of the next zone so you can farm chests there too.

I got multiple chests per zone, but it seems like they got a very long respawn rate, found 18 chests 25 hours ago, did a half round now, and nothing found. Will try it in the evening again.
My "personal route" is Dalaran->portal, Tanaris, Thousand Needles, Un Goro, Silithus, Uldum(<-idk if you can get the orb there too, bot good sellable boe blues 80+) HS portal to blastes lands, swamp of sorrows, and burning steppes finally.

Did you find find an Orb in those 18 chests SkillzFirez? I haven't found any so far but I've only done a couple passes and looted 6-7 chests. I'm inclined to say 20% is a very generous estimate. I think ally4821 just got very lucky. This would still be a good method of farming the Orbs (when the alternative is to grind mobs) but it's still not quite a slam dunk. Thanks ally and +1 rep.

I think I got very lucky too, looking at wowhead I would actually say it is a 1/40 drop rate per chest. Which isn't that bad, odds are you will get one every 1-2 days depending on how many chests you find, I will post maps soon for the path I take, but it will be what I follow on a ground mount, it might be faster a different way flying.
