Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker - A Complete Guide

Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
    Introduction

    Greetings everyone

Unless you’ve been living under a [Rock] the last several months, you are no doubt by now aware of the plethora of guild achievements available for you to earn. Amongst these are:

[Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the WIndseeker – Guild Edition]
    [A Legendary Collection]
    [The Ultimate Collection]
    [We Are Legendary]

In this guide I will be discussing how you too can get [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker], and hopefully gain some of the other Achievements in the process.

    Thunderfury Information Pane
Be warned, however, that obtaining this or any other legendary weapon is no easy task; it can take in excess of several months depending on how lucky or unlucky you may be. Furthermore, a serious investment of both time and gold is required, tread with caution. Without further ado, let us begin.

    Background (Simplified)

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away there was this dude called Ragnaros the Firelord. Him and his lieutenants Garr and Baron Geddon kicked Thunderaan's butt in a big war of some sort. Unfortunately, Ragnaros was a noob and so he couldn’t fully destroy Thunderaan’s essence. Instead, he forced what little remained into an elemental binding and shattered it into two pieces, giving one half to each of his lieutenants. Some time passed and the halves of the talisman were found by this guy called Highlord Demitrian, who was a follower of Thunderaan. He recombined the pieces but couldn’t release his master, so he made it into a beastly sword instead. Thanks Demitrian.

    Ragnaros

    Quest Line

The quest begins when you loot either the Right or Left half of the Bindings of the Windseeker, which drop off Garr and Baron Geddon in Molten Core. When you loot one of these, you must travel to Sithilus and talk to Highlord Demitrian, who will give you the [Vessel of Rebirth] and start the quest. At the end of this guide I will provide a brief dungeon walkthrough

    Highlord Demitrian

    Quest: Examine the Vessel
    Who: Highlord Demitrian
    Starts in: Silithus
    Quest Level: 70
    Level to attain: 60
Items Needed: [Vessel of Rebirth] (provided)

Just inspect it. Then you will get:

Here comes the fun and expensive part. Highlord Demetrian guides you to Earthcaller Franzahl in Winterspring, who tells you about a Goblin named Krixix who is located in Blackwing Lair. He will drop [Goblin's Guide to Elementium]. [Elementium Ingot] drops randomly off the goblins in Blackwing Lair as well.

    Earthcaller Franzahl
    Item: [Enchanted Elementium Bar]:
    1 [Elementium Ingot]
3 [Elemental Flux] (Sold by Blacksmiths)
    1 [Fiery Core] (MC drop)
    10 [Arcanite Bar] (transmuted)
    1 [Thorium Bar]
    1 [Arcane Crystal]

    Krixix

Now that you are sufficiently broke, turn the items in to Highlord Demetrian who summons Thunderaan. Sadly though, Thunderaan is a class-a jerk, is angry, and tries to kill you. Kill him, loot the “[Dormant Wind Kissed Blade]”, turn it in to the Highlord, and boom, you have [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]. Most definitely worth 6 months of your life.

    Dungeon Guide

Here is a quick walkthrough of where you need to go in Molten Core and Blackwing Lair.

    Getting to Molten Core

Assuming you aren't already attuned, you must enter Molten Core through Blackrock Depths.

    Here is one video:

However, it is now possible to take the Drill at the entrance to just beyond the lava boss, and you can jump into the lava from there.

Remember, you're after Garr, and Baron Geddon.

    Garr

    Baron Geddon
    Blackwing Lair

Once again you must go through another instance. Here is a video.

Krixix himself hangs around Firemaw (#4)

    Well that's it.

    Cheers

how to over-complicate simple things - the guide
you could have broken down to "farm baron geddon and garr and hope things drop, while collecting mats from BWL"

    thanks for the effort anyway

Well then it wouldn't really be a guide now would it. It's supposed to be foolproof, which, if you've ever read any of my other guides, it is. I start from scratch and take the reader all the way through. And let's be honest, if I dumbed it down to that extent, I'm sure you'd just flame me for that too.

Anyhow, one of those threads don't have pics anymore and the other one doesn't have pics at all.
But you made it yourself and I'm sure some people find this useful, so rep for the effort at least :-)

I see the Garr picture fine on mine, right above Baron Geddon in the second portion of the guide

How easy is it to solo Molten Core for a caster DPS?
I understand it is trivial for tanks thesedays but DPSes obviously have much less health than tanks.

Very easy to follow guide. I actually 2 man MC now that it is sooo easy (could solo as a hunter, it's just much easier to double dps it). Full clear in about 20 minutes or so, skipping most trash. Of course, you could get to Baron and Garr in minutes of entering, if all you wanted was to farm for Thunderfury bindings...

I need 2 more runs for exalted. I already have the right bindings off Garr, just need Left bindings now... so far no luck. But, I have all my fiery cores needed and all of my mats saved up, already ran BWL to get smelting plans and now I can get thunderfury immediately once bindings drop. It's all a matter of time and luck but it will happen eventually.

This is a clean and very well put together guide. The old ones are not nearly as good. TY + rep

Very, very easy, it was soloable at 80 for most classes, now it is even easier at 85. I would recommend reading up on some of the fights if you do not know how to do them, there are tricks to some of the bosses. Cheers
