I hope by now, everyone knows that you will be able to gain Guild Experience/Reputation for Rewards in Cataclysm. This thread is here to serve as a kind of introduction to the system.
I have been searching for some hard numbers, and so far have only been able to find vague assumptions and quotes. This is all the information I have gathered thus far, if you know anything I don't, don't hesitate to say so.
Before I start:
Wowpedia's Guild Advancement page
Grimmegeds' thread about accessing the guild rewards/achievements panel early
Toastie!'s Critter Kill Squad/Crittergeddon Guild Achievement thread
Mr. Parts' Critter Kill Squad/Crittergeddon Guild Achievement thread
Experience:
Guild Experience is used to Level the Guild itself. The cap is 25. This experience allows the guild to provide certain bonuses, such as faster leveling, to it's members.
Guild Experience is capped daily, the cap is 6246K. However, Guild Achievements will not count towards the cap.
Guild Level 2 will require about 16580K experience
Earning Experience:
You can earn experience for doing just about any grind you normally do, but I'll start with the only number I have.
Questing yields a an additional reward of Guild Experience at a rate of around 72% (of the experience that would have been earned, hence applies to dailies as well), this number was in beta before the 5x increase, and may not be correct anymore.
Leveling a Profession or Reputation will also yield experience, although the rate is unknown, I imagine it to be something like 1:100 (profession points:experience) and maybe 1:10/1:1 (reputation:guild experience). But I'm probably wrong.
Some actions require groups/raids to be comprised of at least 75% Guild Members. Such as, 4/5, 8/10, 12/15 or 20/25.
- Killing Dungeon/Raid Bosses
- Rated PVP (Arena/Rated BG)
Reputation:
Guild Reputation works like any other Faction's reputation; You gain rep through your actions, and are given incentives to do so.
Reputation is personal, whereas Experience is guild wide, so if you leave the guild you will have to start your rep farm again.
There is a bonus to Reputation earned based on how many guild members are a part of the event.
Guild reputation is capped Weekly, unlike experience which is capped Daily.
Earning Reputation:
ALL Guild Reputation is earned as a factor of Guild Experience earned. The conversion rate is unknown. I believe it will be lower than Exp to GExp.
The Fastest way to obtain either?
Naturally, doing Guild organized events like PVP or Raids will get you a good amount each day/week. The best way to Level both the guild Exp and your Guild Rep, is to do achievements.
The achievements, like the Crittergeddon and such posted here on mmowned, offer a large amount of GExp, which means a larger than normal GRep payoff. Because these achievements are not limited by either caps, it is the most effective way of leveling your guild.
If you believe this thread contains info that anyone can find on the web (as I do), then please, feel free to add some less-than-known information. If however you believe my post isn't pretty enough, help me out.
