[Level 80] Guide For Gearing Up!

Hey people in this guide I will teach you my personal and my friend tricks to gear your character up when you hit level 80. Firstly, Once you hit 80, if your class can heal or tank, get dual-spec. It'll get you in dungeon queues so much quicker, trust me. I have raised three characters to level 80 and geared them all up this way.

    Tips to consider before starting:
-Each day, ALWAYS do your daily heroic. It will get you 2 frost emblem and one day you'll be able to buy very good gear with it!

-Each week, ALWAYS do your weekly raid. It will get you 5 emblems of Triumph and Frost!

-Get a raiding guild. This will highly help you!

-If you want your character geared up, don't buy BoAs!! Also, ONLY use Emblems of Triumphs, don't trade them for any heroism, conquest or valor emblems!

-IL is short for Item Level.

    -Get the addOn GearScore.

First you'll want to do heroics, constantly. Make sure your all geared up in itemlevel 200 gear. If you have enough gold, I suggest you buy the 245 IL. If you don't then that's fine.
When about all your equipments are in 200, start doing Trial of The Champion, Forge Of Souls, Pit Of Saron and Halls of Reflections. These dungeons in heroic mode drop 219,226 and 232 IL gear which is good. You should also check with your guild or the trade chat, if any raids such as Obsidian Sanctum, Eye of Eternity, Naxxramas or Onyxia is going on, join them and just wish something will drop for you!

If you eventually get bored, start doing PvP and buy Wrathful PvP gear ( item level : 264 ). Even if it's pvp, it's still good for heroics/raids.
AlSO: If your server dominates the other faction, Do Vault Of Archavon ( VoA ) often, it's drops good gear.

When you have 120 emblems of Triumph, buy yourself the Helm and the Shoulderpads. ( If you have better then buy ring/trinket, That's what you'll buy next with your triumphs. And when you have enough emblems of Frost, buy what would be the better to replace which in most cases, I'd say gloves. Don't buy the relic with your frosts.

Okay so if your going to raid alot, get the addOn
Deadly Boss Mods. It's really good! Also, you should do Trial Of The Crusader often as the bosses inside drop good loots and are easy to kill

I hoped this helped people that didn't know what to do with their emblems or wanted some tips and tricks for gearing up. This was my second guide, I
hope you enjoyed it and will use it otherwise, sorry for wasting your time!

I know.. this is pretty common sense and that's pretty much what people do but I give my tips and for people who don't know what 80 feels like, they can start here.

As the guy said above, common sense.

You also dared to suggest downloading Gearscore? Gearscore is -not- an accurate way to determine what the best gear is for what spec, and continued use of the addon just makes its reputation worse as time goes on.. It mostly goes by itemlevel and stat points, it doesn't count enchants and gems. It tells you what is best based on what the author of the addon feels is best. You are better off posting that people should go to their individual class sites / forums, and actually learning how to play and making their own decisions, versus trusting the nonexistant wisdom of some written LUA code.

@Companioncube, gearscore, when used correctly, is perfect to look at gear. target someone and type /gs it tells how well they aree geared for each spec. if they are useing resi for pve and if they are hit capped etc.

I agree, it is a good thing for at a glance, but people have abused it to the point where it not only teaches bad habits, but creates situations where its all about, "Bring that guy, he has 5944gs!" Said guy got carried and cant even run out of void zones.

Maybe things will get better when Account-Wide achievements come out.

I dont think some classes should get the 245 IL shoulders as it can be much more beneficial to reap the benefits from the 4 piece tier 9 bonus. The helm is the only T9 piece I do not buy when gearing my alt. This may differ between the classes/spec however on my resto druid, I felt the 4 piece set bonus was something that I would help with my healing a lot.

GearScore, I agree its dumb, but as it has corrupted our whole World of Warcraft community, it is a must now, to get in such raids. If you guys really complain about it, ask for achievements.

On Topic: Great guide for the people that don't know, common sense to some, knowledge to others.'

@the Lua thing: I think LUA is "EL YOU AYE", and Lua is Lua (Loo-ah)

Okay first of all, I know that Experiance is better then GS and everything... But I think Gearscore is good because when you are forming a raid, you don't want people with less then 4.5GS to get in ICC or such raids because they will die quickly or lose mana quickly. Anyways, It's cool too because if you're at 4.9 GS. You'll be more motivated to get gear since you'll want to be at 5k GS. It's just something I like having.
