This is common knowledge in my hot opinion, but surprisingly many engineers have no idea about this so I might as well write a little guide about it. It's so good all my characters have been engineers during their whole leveling process, and often after that too.
As a engineer, I haven't been outdps'd in instances even once during 15-70, except when I've been healing and as a kitty due to lack of good abilities at lower levels. Just use a bomb/dynamite every 60 seconds and if you have nuke trinkets, those too.
Searched for saronite bombs but nothing like this came up.
[Engineering]
Pros:
- Battle res once in a hour for every class
- Bombs (Aoe leveling made easy)
- High level Epics at low levels
- Trinkets
- Unique enchantments
- Access to Dalaran's Auction House
- Craft your own guns and ammo (Hunters)
- Craft your pets
- Fireworks!
- See through clothing-goggles
- Personal wormhole
- Pocket Mailbox and Auction House
Cons:
- When in dungeons, nab tanks will lose aggro fast due to your superior DPS
- NOT cheap
If you think thats enough pros and have a low level character waiting, go ahead and make it's leveling a LOT easier!
This is not a leveling guide, so if you're struggling to gain some skill points, google for "engineering leveling guide"
[Pimping your toon]
First, best of these items require level 350 or more in engineering, which can be learned as soon as level 50. However, to get past 300, you need to visit a trainer in Dalaran for example.
Easiest way to get there is to purchase a portal to Dalaran from a Mage (and while in Dalaran, make it your home to make your life much easier)
The trainer is located in Like Clockwork building in Magus Commerce Exchange quarter of Dalaran (38,25).
These are the items that you will love. It's possible I've missed some items since there's so many different gadgets you can make, but hopefully nothing major.
There's also trinkets that will reflect certain spells back when used, but I haven't found those very useful so they're not listed. You can also make trinkets that will teleport you to certain places, but those won't increase your dps or survivability so I didn't include them (Besides pets).

Basically if you go Goblin, you will learn stuff that will blow you and your enemies up, like The Big One - Spell - World of Warcraft while Gnomish engineering offers more fun trinkets and other gadgets, such as Gnomish Death Ray - Spell - World of Warcraft (these are known to do even 5k crits at low levels, depending on how much health you have)
For more info about the gadgets, visit a Gnomish and Goblin engineer trainer in Dalaran, next to the regular Engineering trainer. For more info about the required quest, visit Goblin Engineering - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft or Gnome Engineering - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

Levels 50-65, Master Engineering 300-375:
Now the facerolling starts! Remember, EVERY item listed here only require level 50!
However, once you hit 62, visit your trainer if you haven't already. You can now craft & equip epic goggles for you, depending on your role. For example, casters should make these Destruction Holo-gogs - Spell - World of Warcraft
Bombs & Explosives:
- Box of Bombs - Spell - World of Warcraft (These are the only bombs you will need until Cata. It's your main nuke, so use them everytime they are not on cooldown. Note that you need to be level 65 to craft these, but they are BOE so you can either make them on a higher level engineer or ask another player to make some for you. One box contains lots of Saronite Bomb - Item - World of Warcraft)

- Rocket Boots Xtreme Lite - Spell - World of Warcraft
Trinkets:
- Gnomish Poultryizer - Spell - World of Warcraft (Gnomish)
- Goblin Rocket Launcher - Spell - World of Warcraft (Goblin)
Mounts:
- Flying Machine - Spell - World of Warcraft (Requires level 60 and flying)
Misc:
- Field Repair Bot 110G - Spell - World of Warcraft (Need to make these on a higher level char, or let someone else kill level 70 ish monsters for you so you can obtain the schematic)
And that concludes this low level guide. There's more recipes for you to discover after you've hit level 65 so don't forget to visit your trainer! Best of luck. 8)
