    Another 3.3 Gold making patch

    Peace mmowned,

so everywun is talking about the frozen orbs.. buy cheap now, sell later and so on..

well, on my server atm a stack of Icethorn - Item - World of Warcraft Icethorn costs ~6-10 g, same with Lichbloom - Item - World of Warcraft Lichbloom.
okay, according to mmo champ frost lotus drop rate will increase by 50% so frost lotus will be flooding all teh AH but icethorn and lichbloom will have teh same droprate.
So my advice foar you: buy them cheap now and sell/use them later.

    greets

So they'll get more expensive because the droprate doesn't change?

    Wait.. what?

so atm on my server the problem is that frost lotus costs to much money and nobody buys them. the ah is flooded of the other herbs.
so when there is moar frost lotus you will need moar of teh other herbs.

    got it?

This doesn't make any sense to me. If you think that more will farm, but almost equal as much will buy (Because there isn't any thing new that require icethorn). So more will go to the ah and the prices will fall not rise. So i think the the opposite effect will happen.

what he is trying to say in some random language that i am unaware of is that-
Buy the cheap herbs now, because when the frost lotus droprate is increased people will need more herbs to continue to make flasks, if you purchase all of the herbs that are under 10 gold, you will be able to resell them soon for 20-30g as the market will not be as flooded. '

    That about sum it up?

Yeah thats the impression I got after some consideration, good logic I guess but a little risky too, as the scribes will also be buying these for inks alot less since the mats for inscription have been reduced, reducing demand from scribes may keep the market much the same

Just a FYI, the drop rate has already been increased by 50%. This happened four days ago (the 17th). The server you are playing on need a restart for this change to work though, so if your server hasnt restarted since the 17th it isnt active there yet.

Whilst some of this makes sense (The Auction House being flooded with Frost Loti but Lichbloom and Icethorn staying the same price), some may just go out and farm for more Frost Loti in light of this change. Since Frost Loti don't have their own node, Icethorn and Lichbloom may just start flooding the market as well as Frost Loti. This theory really could go both ways, dependant on your realm's attitude toward farming.

Considering that the increased drop rate of frost lotus only equals out to ~7.5% up from it's 5%, it won't change the prices as dramatically as you think.

i think hes simply saying people trying to buy mats from the ah will need more regular herbs due to more frost lotus but frost lotus is going to 7.5% drop rate from 5% so its not all that much of a change on the economy.
If someone helped you a good way to thank them is by clicking the +Rep button.

What he's saying is that people will spend their frozen orbs on frost lotuses, thus increasing the demands on other herbs, not a bad tip at all.

Okay, I know this thread is old, but seeing as it got necro'd alrdy, why not...

Just popped in to say that this guy was indeed right.. While Frost Lotus went from 60-70g each to 7-10g each on my server, Lichbloom went from ~10g/stack to non-existant on the AH... And if you are lucky enough to find any Lichbloom, they're posted at 40g+ per stack...

Icethorn went up as well, from ~8g to 20g per stack, same thing with Adder's Tongue :P
