An update on farming rare pets

Farming rare pets is something that I do on the side to bring in a bit of extra ingame income without much effort at all. There are a few threads on MMOwned about farming them, however there has been a major change in the latest patch.

In the past there were 4 Rare spawns that would drop the 4 rare pets, namely:
Razormaw Matriarch (Wetlands) which would drop Razormaw Hatchling
Takk the Leaper (Barrens) which would drop Leaping Hatchling
Dart (Dustwallow Marsh) which would drop Dartling Hatchling
Ravasaur Matriarch (Un'Goro) which would drop Ravasaur Hatchling

The problem:
However with the recent patch these mobs no longer drop the pets instead they spawn a nest, such as "Takk's Nest" where you then open it and you will get the pet.

The Rare Spawns listed about have a 4-6 hour respawn timer so I am assuming that so do the nests, however the nests and rare spawns do not spawn at the same time.

How you can maximize your income most efficiently:
I have 1 character parked near the spawn point for each Rare Spawn, and each day before I start playing wow I do a 5 min run-around on each char checking for the rarespawn and it's nest. More often than not I will find it and get my pet. If I have more free time I will check in the morning, lunchtime and before I go to sleep.

If you really want to farm these you can note each time you kill one the exact time and the coordinates (I use cartographer and make a little icon on the map) each time I kill one. Then you just make sure you log on again in the next 4-6 hours after you kill one and it should be spawned again.

Hope this helps you all, and stops those of you who normally do this from killing only the rare over and over again, not getting the pet and not looting their nest :P

i also noticed this the pets do not drop from the rare elite mobs they appear in a nest who is difficult to see thanks im glad i farmed like 40 times the razzor one lol

I think what he meant was that he farmed the rares for a while but they didnt drop the pets, then eventually he also noticed that they drop from eggs.
