Has been Hotfixed and the Hilt no longer drops from Skeletal Slaves.

Based on feedback we’ve been provided by players, we’d like to make you aware of a couple of changes we are applying to Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Halls via in-game fixes. Firstly, we are increasing the drop rate of the Battered Hilt in all three wings of this Heroic five-player dungeon. We have seen a great deal of discussion about this item’s chance of dropping since the release of patch 3.3.0 and agree that it is currently too low. As a result, players should find greater accessibility to this item while running these dungeons, or while trading with other players who have it.
In light of this change, we are also removing the chance for the Battered Hilt or any other epic item to drop from the Skeletal Slaves in the Pit of Saron. The need to “farm” these creatures for the Battered Hilt should be reduced by our first in-game fix and will no longer result in a chance for epic loot or Battered Hilts.
You’re welcome to discuss these changes in this thread and provide us with any additional feedback you may have. Please refrain from creating additional threads about these in-game fixes at this time.
You can find a full list of recent in-game fixes here: World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Recent In-Game Fixes - Decmeber 2009 - 12/15
Dunno if it's been posted but I didn't see any thread and for some people it might be common knowlage but you can solo farm the Battered Hilt in PoS by killing the packs of slaves that only got 8k hp as long as you can CC the elite in the pack.
This is also an easy way to get greens and epics for dissenchanting and mobs gives around 1g each + lots of Frostweave Cloth and greys so expect to make alot of money here if you farm.
Just take one pack at a time and run out in betwen and when all packs are cleared reset the instance(only works if no bosses are dead)
IMPORTANT: It has to be HC PoS since Battered Hilt doesn't drop on normal mode, also have to be an unsaved instance(no bosses killed) in order for you to be able to reset trash.
*Just avoid elites and when you see a pack with the Skeletal Slaves CC the Deathwhisper Necrolyte (repentance, Poly, etc, whatever long CC you have and aoe down the Skeletal slaves. Loot then run out of the instance and then run in agani and take another pack. There are 5 packs and when all are cleared run out and reset the instance. Remember it's a 1-2% drop rate so might take a while but on the other hand you might get lucky.
There, in the right section now :P
*Still working as of 12/12-09 acording to WoWhead but it seems as if it's drop rate has been lowered big time and don't get mad if it takes you a day to get the Hilt.
*Still working as of 13/12-09
*Alot of people have been asking for tactics for their class and alot of people have shared. I've put together most of it here so you don't have to read through every page just to find your class.
Paladin.
Ret:
Repentance the elite mob and kill the skeletons a bit away.
Prot:
Go in and lay Consecration and start killing skeletons. Take some shadowbolt hits deppending on how much hp you got and then HoJ elite when you like and run out(can drag remaining skeletons with you and kill on the way if you can't kill them before you stun and start running.
Mage:
Mirror Image and attack elite, Ice Block, AoE adds and then Invisibility and loot.
Hunter:
1, Send in pet on elite and AoE adds and put an explosion trap before you for when they reach you, Feign Death and Dismiss or let pet die.
2, Use frost arrow and trap the elite then aoe adds and fd and no risk with your pet. (Thanks darkriderking for pointing that out)
Warlock:
Same as hunter but keep pet on elite while you run out with the Void Walkers shield on you. Fear is not advised.
For those interested warlocks can kill the elite too without much effort and other packs of mobs too. read LindeCutah guide on page 3 for more info.
Rogue:
Using CDs in different ways. FoK -> vanish works and Blind elite while killing skeletons then run out works too.
Warrior:
Hard. Prot would be your best choice and might even be able to take down elite with Spell Reflect if you know how to play but othervice go in stun elite, take down skeletons as fast as you can and get Spell Reflect up when stun wears of from elite. When skeletons are dead fear elite and run out.
Priest:
Shadow: Shakle elite and then kill skeletons with any of you're AoE abilitys.
Shaman:
Read http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-gu...le-shaman.html for a detailed guide on how to do it as a Shaman.
Druid:
Root elite and run out of line of sight and kill skeletons seems to be a good way. Boomkins might be able to cyclone elite and kill adds on spot but why bother when you can Root and igone him.
Death Knight: Delete your character. :P
1, Silence and slow elite and run back a bit and kill skeletons then run out.
2, Send in Ghoul on elite then AoE skeletons. Remember to use the Ghouls deffensive ability.
3, Frost DKs might be able to freeze the elite while nuking skeletons. haven't looked at the ability or anything just thought I remembered you have some freeze ability.
