Hello,
I've searched for this topic but I didn't find anything similar to this.
A good korean friend of mine once told me, that in Korea there are Goldraids. I didn't know what the hell that is. He explained it to me. I liked the idea of it very much and I think it's a great way to get gear fast and effective. Also it's a not so boring way to farm gold.
Q: What is a Goldraid?
A Goldraid is a raid where a minor group of people gets carried by experienced and well-equipped players through raidinstances in order to obtain gear.
Q: What is a shopper?
People that want to obtain gear from a raidinstance. They are willing to pay for the gear and want to rush through the instance.
Q: What is a carrier?
People that have experience and good enough gear to carry shoppers through the desired raidinstance for gold. Practically everyone that keeps the group going. If you need a certain item from an instance, but it didn't drop and you were still useful to the group you are a carrier. If it did drop and you obtained it, you became a shopper and lost your demand on the gold.
Q: What is a Goldraidleader?
This is a person, that
- is accountable
- is able to lead a raid
- preserves the gold spent for items until the end of the raid
- trades the items to the shoppers for the gold
- pays the carriers at the end of the raid.
Q: What raidinstances?
Raidinstances that were cleared by the majority of carriers. It is not reasonable to goldraid Icecrown on the first day of 3.3.
Q: What groupsetup?
The groupsetup should obviously be as synergetic as possible and should let room for small errors. If the instance is easy you can take more shoppers with you. For example: 10 T9 carriers should be easily enough to carry 15 shoppers through Naxxramas, a Goldraid for TotGC on the other hand should only have 3-5 shoppers. The Goldraid-concept needs bad geared people with gold.
Q: How to bid/win an item?
The boss dies and the Goldraidleader takes all the items that dropped, since you can trade them with raidmembers for 2 hours. The Goldraidleader posts the items and starts the biddingwar. Here is an example with startingbid 200g and raise 50g(at least):
The Goldraidleader now trades [Item1] for 450g to Shopper1.Code:Goldraidleader: [Item1] bid! Shopper1: 200g Shopper2: 250g Shopper3: 300g Shopper2: 350g Shopper3: 400g Shopper1: 450g *People stop bidding* Goldraidleader: 5 Goldraidleader: 4 Goldraidleader: 3 Goldraidleader: 2 Goldraidleader: 1 Goldraidleader: ----------
People not interessted in the item just keep up clearing the instance.
For Tiertokens it is also possible to set the minimumbid higher than the minimumbid for normal items. Further the minimumbid for items from the endboss can also differ, because some shoppers may only need some specific item.
Q: What about bosstactics?
This is usually only a shopper-problem, carriers should know them. The Goldraidleader, or some other competent carrier asks before engaging the boss if everyone knows the tactic. If everyone does or the survival of shopppers is not important just engage the boss. If there are 3 or more people not knowing the tactic, the tactic will be explained, and shoppers have a quick talk with the carriers from the same kind(tank, melee, caster, healer), if needed.
Q: When will the carriers receive their gold?
If the instance is finally cleared, the Goldraidleader examines which raidmembers were 'guests'. Indicators are
- gear(itemlevel)
- low DPS
- low HPS
- didn't know the tactic
- carrier that won an item
- is a noob^^
[Gold from bids] / ( [Size of the raid] - [number of guests] ) = [Gold that every carrier will receive]
Q: What is with the gold that the bosses drop?
You have the choice. Either you just loot it and it will be equally spread between all raid members, or you can give it to the Goldraidleader and he will give it only to the carriers at the end of the raid.
Q: Is there firstneed or something like that?
There is no firstneed. Shoppers have to pay gold for the items, so they won't bid on anything that they don't at least need a little bit. Firstneed also wouldn't be in the interesst of the carriers.
Q: What to do with items, that nobody needs?
These items will simply be dissenchanted. The shards will usually be sold at the end of the raid for a fourth of the AH-price.
Q: What to do with total noobs?
If there are players in the raid that constantly deter the raid from clearing the instance they will be kicked out and blacklisted. Although people are likely to play serious because their gold is involved.
Q: Are there addons, that help the Goldraidleader?
The only one I've stumbled accross is GoldRaidManager.
Q: What else to note?
To make sure shoppers have enough gold you could have them trading you and type in X gold. Although they won't receive any item if they don't have enough.
As you see the whole Goldraidconcept is all about efficiency. It's really worth it to play as good as you can.
Happy raiding / buying / farming,
