Get 5-10 new easy-reach keys!

This might not be the greatest tip of all time here on Mmowned.com, but however I find it useful and if I do, someone else gotta do it aswell aight?

For optimal powers in arena/PVP for example as much possible should be hotkeyed because clicking is bad, still what many players do is that they start to hotkey spells with complicated macro's which makes them so hard/slow to reach that even clicking might be better.

So your easy-reach keys are like keyboard button 1 2 3 4 (5) (some even say the 5 key is to hard to reach, although I do not think so)
And almost every player have started to use the Shift + 1 2 3 4 (5) because it is easy-reach aswell and shift is not hard to press with the spare finger on the left of your left hand.

However many players use more than one spell/ability (almost all players use more) and then players (including myself) starts to use letters on the keyboard for spells, like F T V X C and more.
These are working for use but not as optimal as the 1 2 3 4 (5) keys, but since they are already chosen for other spells you have to start using the letters on the keyboard.



There however is a last option aswell, aswell as you can hold the Shift + key you can hold the Alt + Key

Still reaching Alt and having a finger to spare for another key is a pain in the a** if you do not have a crooked hand or something.
So what I did is that I took the Caps Lock Key (which I already had disabled a long time ago since I am not using is, Shift + letter makes BIG LETTES JUST FINE
And configured my Caps Lock key to become a third Alt key.

This might be some sort of common knowledge but noone I have spoken with have heard of it before.

So what this does for you is that it gives you up to 10 new easy-reachable keys!
Alt + 1 2 3 4 (5) and if your already using letters Alt + R E Q F C + some others if you want it.

With the Caps Lock key configured to be a third Alt Key these are as easy-reachable as Shift + X combinations and to be honest after a while the Caps Lock key is easier to use since it is mostly bigger than the Shift key.
What you basicly do is that you move the finger you have on the shift key almost all the time and move up to the Caps Lock key when using a spell/ability that you have binded to Alt



And that is it!








If you like this and want to try it or get it I will write the way I did it down here as a easy to follow guide, this was done using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit but anything from Windows XP to Windows 7 should work with this guide i think.

1) Download KeyTweak (KeyTweak Homepage)
I have not virus scanned this but using it myself and I did not get any viruses, the site looks abit suspect but this is a widely used program.

2) Install KeyTweak (Installs like any program)

4) Start it up

5)
When the program is up follow this picture, first red things then blue then green

6) Then you will need to restart your computer because this program makes a permanent systemchange for the key specified, however you CAN EASILY CHANGE BACK ANY KEY IN KEYTWEAK.

7) Enjoy your new 5-10 easily reachable keys in World of Warcraft =)

You see some classes uses more spells than others, this is an alternative for those who feel that they have started to use some stupid bindings to cast commonly used spells.

And also, the Caps Lock key is easier to hold down than the Ctrl key when pressing another key.

But if you already have enough easy to reach bindings for your class then you just do not have to do this :P

I am sorry mate but your answer is abit optimistic

No modifier + 12345 -works
Shift + 12345 -works
Ctrl + 12345 -works (though ctrl is not really easy to press, but it works well)
Alt + 12345 -Does not work, unless you change it the way my guide says, well maybe you can play with it as standard but for a big majority of all players it is very hard to press without moving your hand alot.

F1 + F2 + F3 + F4 + F5 + F6
Can not be counted since only people with really long fingers can reach them, I have medium fingers like most people, I can hold a basketball upside down and thats about it and the F1-6 keys is not even possible.

That leaves your post with 12345 (standard) shift+12345 and ctrl 12345 = 15 keys instead of 57 :P

for some classes 15 keys is enough for others it is not enough, also caps lock is slightly easier to reach than Ctrl.

Also if you have a working setup with your number of keys this guide is not needed to follow

I play on a laptop, and with that 123456 are not that usable with my keyboard layout. So I personally use q,e,r,t,y,f,g,h,z,x,c,v,b,` with shift, ctrl modifiers.

Ty for this, I've been trying to adjust to keybinds, but I use ctrl for vent and alt is a bitch to press. after I'm done AV AFKing on my alt I'll test out my new remaped button

I dont really need this cuz i only use 4-5 keys on my paladin, as holy i spam flash only. And as Ret i use CS,DS,Exothing,Aoe and Judgement...

Why would it be hard to press the alt button with your thumb?

And btw, regarding the buttons.

§(left of 1), 1-6, t+f+g+q, m3+m4+m5(seriously, not that hard to find a 5button mouse these days).

That's 14 buttons, add modifiers for all x3, 42. Add spells rarely used to F1-F5(mount, food, portals, summon, gear sets, you get my point) and you got another 5 buttons.

that's MINIMUM mobility, now move "wasd" to "esdf" and you get W+A as two more buttons, so that's another 6(total of 53, yay rocketscience).

How many button bindings did you need again?
