Making money with Inscription

Ugh, not another one!

Pre-Note: I was hoping to include a list of best selling glyphs, but I'm going to have to cut that short. I wanted to release this before next week, as the new mmo champ guide for inscription “supposed to” come out next week, and I don't want people assuming I ripped this off of him (Since I'm pretty sure its going to be similar, as his enchanting guide is the first Ive seen with the Quick Auction addon)

That being said, on to the guide!

Mods I'm using:
Quick Auctions 2
Allows you to create “groups” for quick and easy batch posting, with no tediousness.

Auctioneer (Obvious)
I recommend using this to scan the AH daily, or even twice a day (Once in the morn, once in the afternoon). The more you scan, and the longer amount of time you use it, the more accurate it will be (Which you have probably been told 100's of times)

Postal
Just a simple addon, that comes with a handy “Open all” button, for your mailbox.

LilSparky's Workshop
In the trade skill window, it adds 2 columns. The first, lists what the Average price on the AH is (Data is taken from Auctioneer). The second lists the costs of the item, which is useless for inscription, so you can ignore it.

None of these are needed, but highly, HIGHLY recommended, unless you enjoy long hours of tedious work.

First thing you need to do is set up the addons listed, and by that I mean QA2, the other 3 are fine as default.

To set up QA2, type “/qa config”. This will bring up a window, with 3 tabs on the side. We will only be using the 3rd



In the picture, the left red box shows the tabs, and the selected one is the one we are using. You can see I made two “groups”, called One ink and Two ink, which I will explain in a second. To create these click the actual word “Item Groups”, and you will see a typing area, put the name in that, and click ok.

Once that is done, click back on one of the created groups (As shown in the right red box). In the picture, you can see a majority of my settings for “One ink”. Which are as follows. (The check boxes shouldn't matter if you don't have any “default” settings, so please ignore them.)

Undercut: have mine set to 10s, anything larger is a waste, if you're dutch, might as well make it 1c. What this will do is set the price of the items you are posting, to the current lowest price, minus the “undercut”

Threshold: Set this to whatever the price of a stack of adder's tongue is on your sever, divided by 4!! (More simply, the price of 5 adder's tongue)
1 milling of Adder's tongue GARENTEES 1 ink, which means that this is the maximum average price you should pay for ink. The glyphs will never be posted for cheaper than this threshold, its basically a catch so we do not lose money!

I have my bid set to 100% of my buyout, because I'm a cheap bastard, making it something like 90%, may lose money, but it will make it look less automated.

My post cap is set to 2, I recommend that or 3. You don't want it too high, or you will flood the AH and lower the potential profit margin.

The “fallback” price, is what it will post the auctions for, if there is no competition. I set mine to 30g, only because I personally, would never pay more than that for a glyph.

Leave “Items per auction” at one, and the “Duration” to 48 hours.

Now, you want to make the “Two ink” group, the exact same, but with a Threshold 2x higher than in number one (The cost of 2 inks, obviously).

Now, the last step we need to do is selected what goes in each group. The easiest way I found to do this, was create one of every glyph that takes one ink (of any type). Once this is done, click on the group (Group one), then on the tab “Add items”. When you scroll down, you will see pictures of glyphs. Click on the picture, and it will add it to the group. The same is true for the “Remove item” tab.

Repeat the last few steps for the “Two ink” Glyphs.

And now you have the addon set up (Hopefully) correctly.

The reason we use LilSparky's, is so we can see what glyphs sell for easily, and avoid buying ones that sell for less than 5 gold (Or 10 gold for 2 ink glyphs). Otherwise they will just rot in your bags.

Once this is all set up, you can goto the AH, click the “auctions” tab, and click “post”. And it will do the rest for you! This probably seems like a lot of work, but its a 1-time deal, so once its done, you will never need to do it again (this expansion).

Also, I recommended logging back in ever few hours and clicking the “cancel” button (Right beside the “post” button). This will check all of your auctions to make sure you are not undercut. Then simply repost them again.

I've been doing this for a long time before the MMO-Champ guide was posted.

I find using this method much easier, and faster than posting auctions with Auctioneer.

I think the title is missleading, it should say "Make money with insc with help of addons" or something like that, since your guide is mostly about addons and not insc.

Everything can be done without addons. The addons just make it easier.
I would be lying if i said selling glyphs to make money isnt common sense, however, setting up the addons and knowing what ones will help the most isnt.

The inscription guide was posted on MMO-Champ today, and it was surprisingly different than what i thought it would be.
