The objective of this guide is to show you how to keep Horde from accessing the Stonetalon Mountains flightmaster (indefinitely for lowbies). Some of you folks may have done this before. I kind of came upon it by accident while doing some Ally quests in Stonetalon Mountains. Of course it would have been a lot more fun years ago, but if there are Horde questing nearby, it's still pretty fun imo.
Anyhow, here's the deal: if you open your Stonetalon Mountains zone map, assuming it's uncovered, you should look for the Charred Vale and Sun Rock Retreat. They are on the left or westernmost side of the map, separated by a very narrow ridge.
Directly north of Charred Vale is the main road out (for alliance).
If you follow it up the hill a bit, heading out from Charred Vale, you should see a trail branching off to the right towards Sun Rock Retreat.
Turn onto this path and follow it not to it's end, but to the top of the ridge overlooking the town, so that you are peering down at the large round circus tent looking thing.
How to survive the fall is up to you. It is an extremely long distance, and unless you are a class with bubble or slowfall, things could get a little silly at this point. Engineers, priests, pallies, mages, etc. should be ok. You can get a compass from the fishing daily to stop your fall; I haven't tested it from this height though. Might be something to practice over water first. Anyhow if you can't think of a way to land on the roof without killing yourself, get a soulstone or something, or bring a friend who can survive the fall and rez you. I dunno how easy it is to make the jump without being mounted, as the building is many yards away from the edge of the mountain. I had trouble making it as a ghost.
Once you're on the roof, run over to the western side and look down. You should see Tharm the tauren flightmaster.
Now all you need is an ability that you can use from 30 yards or so, like autoshot, curses, pally taunts, etc. Something spammable and low mana cost if you can manage. When you hit the flightmaster, he will simply evade out and stare at you. Some enraged wyverns will spawn as well each time you engage him; that's part of the fun really, as it the wyverns cover him up after a while. As long as you stay in combat with Tharm, Hordies can't get on the bird. =) And as you know, it's a long darn walk to the next Horde flightmaster, rofl. In essence you are forcing them to hearth away or walk.
If you do this too long it's probably a ban, so be careful. It's really hilarious watching the little lvl 20 mages and warlocks etc. swarming around the flight master in anger, especially on a PVE server where people aren't really used to dealing with these petty inconveniences. I couldn't stay as long as I wanted to on my main account for obvious reasons.
Hope this is fun for someone, it was a nice break from Lolmaster questing.
EDIT: For clarity, I did this on an ally toon but went back for the pictures on a horde. That's why no one is on the roof in the picture.
