game version was a problem for only a short while. It is fine now.

Check my sig that changes the realmlist automatically. That way you don't have to follow this guide.

This guide is missing some information. This works for all clients on all servers which are patched to the same level the client is. For example, Chinese servers are not patched to the same level American servers are patched to. Therefore, you cannot connect to an American server with a Chinese client.

For all servers, switch the nationality letters to correspond with the area you are trying to connect to

US = enUS
EU-English= enGB
German= deDE
French= frFR
Spain= esES
Korean= koKR
Simplified Chinese= zhCN
Traditional Chinese= zhTW
Russian= ruRU (this is mainly for UI addons, there are no official Russian servers)

By using this, you can use (for instance) a Korean client to connect to American servers. Usually you may think of this as pointless, but you can use it to link items in a foreign language in trade channels. I had fun linking [Elementar Ass] in my trade channel. It does actually show up in the foreign language to other players. However, the clicked tooltip that comes up is translated into their native tongue.

I play on both US and EU realms. The information in this post is correct also. I simply keep a shortcut to realmlist.wtf on my desktop and modify set realmlist to either

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
or
set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

depending on which continent I feel like having fun with. The patches all appear to either be the same or at least work together. I don't bother changing the other option

set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

when I'm playing EU and it works just fine. Also, I only use the USA client, I simply bought an EU account code online - you can even pay for an EU subscription with a US credit card (but it costs more).

i dont think you can use us account to play Eu account!!!

Very true, just we're telling you how to play on servers that are different from their respective clients. We're not telling you how to play on EU servers with a US account. We're telling you how you could connect to the US servers with a German, Spanish, Korean, etc. client rather then a US client.

okay case closed. Changing the realmlist to whatever doesnt allow you to play on other clients.. You need to have the whole client of eu to connect to eu servers. Now if you patch up with us patches and logon to a eu server you will get unable to validate game version. There fore you would have to use eu patches if you want to log on to a eu server. (im just using eu because i had problems with eu lol). It just recently changed after this 2.1.3 patch. Maybe it will change for later on patches. Who knows.
