[Guide] Rare Spawns and TLPD help

This is something I've been keeping track of for a long time now in Northrend. Outland works by the same system also, but i am yet to bring this to the old world because the idea is daunting because of the lack of flying mounts, and i don't speed hack.


Now Everyone knows that rare spawns have seemingly random spawn timers, though you hear the 6 hour interval get thrown around a lot.

What i have discovered is that both of these are correct.

Rare spawns in each continent(not yet confirmed for old world) have a 6 hour SHARED spawn time.

So what we do, is log on as soon as the servers come up from maintenance or a reset or a wold server crash and kill the first 4 100% confirmed rare spawns that will always be there after servers come back up.

These are Perobas the bloodthirster, Vigdis the warmaiden, Icehorn and Greigan. I'll attatch some maps of all rare locations also.

(on oceanic servers time) 5.30 ish will also get you King Ping.

Now after you kill the first 4 rare spawns (5 if close to king pings spawn time) record the times of death and in 6 hours time go for a fly around to the other locations to find yourself some more rares to kill (or bodies).

This can also be used to help you track TLPD as he shares a spawn with Vyragosa, if you have the times that rares will spawn, then start each flight around searching for rares with Vyragosa's spawn point.

I have gotten TLPD from this, and i have all but 2 of the rare spawns (lokeh'quan [slept something like this] and Aotona) bacause they are highly saught after as hunter pets.

(clarification) So you are saying that, if I kill rare (x) at 12:00, then rare (y) should spawn at 6:00.

For example, if I kill a rare in Howling Fjord as soon as servers come up (lets just say 12:00am), then 6 hours later, another rarespawn (SOMEWHERE in northrend), should spawn.

but how are you 100% sure those four/five rares are up after maintance??? (curious)

Using macros to find rares is sooo old.

that is exactly what i mean and yes 100% after any server or world restart the 4 i named will be up, of course this'll be easier to do on a lol pop server.

my server has only just come back up after this xtra extended maint, and im flying to kill greigan now

these 4-5 (depending on time) are the start points of the timer for rare spawns

every time there is s server reset they respawn, starting the timer again for that continent.

also i forgot to add, that if you do manage to kill all of them in there first 6 hour cycle, king ping becomes the new starting point with his 5.30 spawn time im still not sure what time that relates to on other realms though qq


yes using macros is old, but the guide is about the timing not the macros please read before u post

and like clockwork, 4 rare spawns killed, (wrong time for kp) ill fly around in 6 hours time and continue on my merry way

Is this based on any evidence? Do you have a TLPD? I have a very hard time believing this, as it has been seen multiple times on various realms that the TLPD goes unspawned for days at a time. Am I to assume that no one is killing other rare spawns during those days?

I know for a fact this info about TLPD is wrong, because its a completely non-normal rare mob, it has a ~20% (from tests on EJ) chance to spawn instead of a rare mob who has an 6-18 hour spawn timer, I personally think this 6 hour respawn timer is kinda bull, since most rare mobs I have experience with have variable respawn timers

this is not bull, i havnt obtained TLPD myself yet, i have had it tagged infront of me once and seen it getting killed twice though.

TLPD has a chance to spawn instead on vyragosa who works the same as all rare spawns as i have suggested. because of this fact you might not see tlpd regularly, but vyra and tlpd together fits into teh pattern perfectly

in 1 week of doing this, i got 16/23 northrend rare spawns. I missed 3 spawns, one cause i fell asleep, one cause i had to go to uni and one cause i was raiding

The Outland macros were likely to of been posted before WotLK (Duh) so if the guy that Flow linked to put Outland locations in, he'd get flamed for reposting too.

Also these exact macros and mob locations are posted on almost every page of Northrend/Outland rares on WoWhead so..
