How to install wow twice (or thrice or...)

Well, I tried for an hour and searched this site and couldnt find anything on how to install wow Twice, but its actually really simple.
1: Insert Disk 1 into the D Tray.
2: Click Start on the bottom of your screen and hit the "My Computer" button you see in the window that pops up.
3: When it opens right click the D Tray and hit "Explore"
4: When the new window opens copy all the contents of the folder to a new folder named WoW PVT 1 or WoW 2 w.e u feel fits.
5: Repeat this for the next 5(in some cases 4) disks and when it asks "will you Over write?" Click yes to all
6: When all your disks are done go to your original wow folder and Rename it to something like World of Warcraft2 or WoW2 w.e you feel fits.
7: Then go into the New WoW folder and click the Install button you see, when you get a new dialogue box find your new folder and use that as your directory to install WoW.
8: this could take from a half hour to a day.

The significance in this is that now that when you try and Downgrade your WoW it doesnt go from 2.1 to 2.0 you have a brand new WoW and your old wow
the Install also goes much faster as you dont have to switch disks mid install because all the Data was copied into the folder.

i will be getting screen shots soon to make it easier

Re: How to install wow twice (or thrice or...)

yeah, but when u copy your original WoW from 2.1 and try and downgrade it it goes to 2.0.0 not 1.0.0 or 1.11 or w.e

i mean, did you even read it?

Couldn't you just rename your old WoW folder and install as you usually do? Seems like it would be alot easier.

I really don't see the point. You can't play with a downgraded WoW. Also, you can run WoW.exe twice from you game folder with no problems (I use this for trading goods sometimes). Lastly as mentioned you can also simply copy the game folder. This works great for giving someone the game fully-updated as well. I can copy the game folder with Windows file-sharing in about 15 minutes and it has all the latest patches / mods etc.

Re: How to install wow twice (or thrice or...)

    To Etherea
I think the point to this is to allow you to have a 100% legit and up to date standard WoW folder for playing your Blizz Server account, AND a second, separate, downgraded folder for playing on a separate private server.

    To Fourn443
+rep, alot of the private server people may not have any idea of this.

Re: How to install wow twice (or thrice or...)

yeah i only play private servers and 1 is 2.10 and the other 2.0.whatevr.
good goin, but by doing this would i actually have 2 WoWs taking up my harddrive? so 18gigs?
would repairing do the same thing just take longer?

Or you could just move your WoW folder to the desktop, then install another wow again.

    Repairing shouldn't take as long.

On the note of Installing... All you have to do is rename your current "World of Warcraft" folder to somthing other than "World of Warcraft", such as "WoW" and it will allow you to reinstall.

When downgrading World of Warcraft you DO NOT have to reinstall the game. Simply Copy and Paste your current "World of Warcraft" folder somewhere else such as your desktop. From there go to the new coppied folder (C:\Documents and Settings\<computer's name>\Desktop\WoW(coppied one)\Data.) Then from there delete your patch.mpq file and repair (Select "Reset and Check Files") WoW in the folder that you just coppied. It will say that your World of Warcraft game is seriously damaged and will need to revert back to an earlier patch. Depending on what game you have..(Regular Wow or TBC). Regular WoW will revert to the 1.0.0 patch while TBC will revert to 2.0.0. All you have to do from then is wait for the repair to finish then find the patch you want to upgrade to. http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/p...aft/patch.html is a link to all the patches in multiple languages.

    There you have it!

LoL yes thats what i do thiers 2 ways to do this 1: make a clean instal on WoW (TBc Or normal) which ever1 ou want and coppy Without doing Updater that way u dont have to downgrade and u only have to install 1nce but make sure you Change the name of the Folders Like WoW1, WoW2, WoW3, Etc. 2: Just rename the folder you install it to Which installing multi Times would take for ever... takes me 1 hour per instal about 2 half With TBC. Hope this helped. And id say this is a noob friendly way and a time saver as well=) Who wants to downgrade.... or install 50 times...

That's because you didn't delete all the patches + expansion.

You can only trade with yourself, if you have more then one account. You can not have 2 charaters from the same account logged in at any time.
