FEDERAL BUREAU OF MOO's SHAMAN HEALING GUIDE!
Hey guys - Federal Bureau of Moo's back again with a new selfwritten guide for ya ;> This time we will talk about shaman's and their great healing.
SPEC:
So, first of all i would like talking about their specs. For a shaman pve healer there is only one spec to go, and that's raid healing. Here is a link to my favorite spec:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Your job lets say on Patchwerk(can be any boss tbh) is to wait for the MT to go in, once he is in use "Riptide". You should now check every members status and see if they need heal, if 1 guy needs heal - use "Lesser Healing Wave". If more than 2 needs it - use "Chain Heal".
Use "Healing Wave" on MT/OT. Incase he is on low hp, then spam him with "Lesser Healing Wave" until his hp is atleast 70%.
Ofcourse this can vary alittle and you might have to be creative with some lesser healings and stuff like that if needed ;>
GLYPHS:
Seeing Glyphs as an important thing since they help maximizing your spec fully, i've created a full glyph system that matches the spec i like to use. Here it goes:
- Glyph of Lesser Healing Wave (Major) - Your Lesser Healing Wave heals for 20% more if the target is also affected by your Earth Shield.
- Glyph of Healing Wave (Major) - Your Healing Wave also heals you for 20% of the healing effect when you heal someone else.
- OR
- Glyph of Chain Heal (Major) - Your Chain Heal heals one additional target.
- Glyph of Water Mastery (Major) - Increases the passive mana regeneration of your Water Shield spell by 30%.
- Glyph of Water Shield (Minor) - Increases the number of charges on your Water Shield spell by 1
- Glyph of Water Breathing (Minor) - Your Water Breathing spell no longer requires a reagent
Ofcourse you can vary out the glyphs to fit your play style, but this is what i would choose. I'm sure you might wanna know why i picked those glyphs, and sure i will tell you now ;> The lesser healing wave glyph is a must for LHW spam for tank healing. As for the Healing Wave vs. Chain heal it is a toss up based on your play style. If you find that you don’t cast HW that much then you might want to take the increase of CH, but having an ability that heals myself without having to think about it is a win in my book.
- Glyph of Renewed Life (Minor) - Your Reincarnation Spell no longer costs a reagent.
As for the minor glyphs it is always a toss up. I find the underwater breathing glyph to be very convenient and that reincarnation doesnt cost a reagent also helps me alot. As for the water shield, it is probably negligible, but the less I have to cast it and waste a global cool down the better.
ENCHANTS:
Well, enchants are hell important - and can maximize your sp with up to 200 if you focus it alittle, here's what i would do regarding enchants.
Head: The 30+ SP and 8mp5(I think that's it) From Wyrmcrest Accord is every healers number one, its a must to pick this if you are revered with WA.
Shoulders: The Sons of Hodir allows you to buy a simply awesome one when you hit Honored, and an even better one when you hit exalted. the honored enchant gives you 18+SP and 4mp5, and the exalted enchant gives you 24+ SP and 6mp5. So deffo worth getting.
Back: Tbh, i would go with the 22 haste one. Haste is always a good stat to take and i do not see alot of better ones at this very moment. But it can vary ofcourse and pick whatever you like ;>
Chest: 10 stats is always a winner, handy for every class and certainly for the shaman aswell, if you dont like that you can also go with 275+ mana on chest.
Bracers: 30 spellpower. Nuff said, only thing that is good to pick - and it aint very expensive either ;>
Gloves: 28 spellpower aswell, always good to stack spellpower with your enchants, and you will see that it can help you alot.
Legs:Only thing you should take is 50 SP 30 sta for more survival and the SP stacking.
Boots: 6mp5, mp5 is an important thing to stack for a shaman. Even tho you got both totems and shield - mp5 will always help you.
Weapon: 50 or 63 SP. Depends how your economy is.
GEAR AND STATS:
Well, as a shaman you should prolly go after these stats:
Intellect
Spell Power
Mp5
Haste
and in this order SP>Int>Haste>Mp5.
All of the things is important to stack, but since you already got water shield and stuff, mp5 aint as nescessery as the other ones and can be stacked alittle less.
How to obtain the gear:
Well, i would first look at my stats, how are they? If your SP is below 1400 - mp5 below 200(with shield and while casting). I would do some normals to get the quest gear changed out for some dungeon blues.
Once i archieved that i would start by doing the easy heroics(UK, AN, Nexus) for whatever gear becomes handy(Especially that mace from Nexus hc). I would also go do VoA and VoA heroic(Vault of Archavon) since its an incredibly easy instance with awesome drops.
Once your healing is on 1500 and mp5 on more than 200 while casting, you can focus on the medium heroics(Everything but HoL, UP and HoS should do it) and go to OS norm/hc(Obsidian Sanctum).
After you've archieved that, and got bored of it/no more drops for you then your healing should prolly be 1700 or 1800+ (and 300mp5 while casting). Now its time to do Naxx normal. Complete that with a guild or a pug(if your server is that good) and you should get a few more drops and some boss experience. After that is done you can progress to hc naxx which is alittle harder but same boss tactics. So shouldnt be that much of a problem. Ofcourse you can go Malygos 10/25 man aswell but that requires a few good pieces of gear and knowledge on how to play your class.
GEMS:
For gems, i would suggest this:
For yellow: 16 intellect(Brilliant Autumn's Glow)
For red: 19 spellpower(Runed Scarlet Ruby)
For blue: 9 spellpower and 3mp5(Royal Twilight Opal)
For meta: 21 int chance on spells to restore mana(Insightful Earthsiege Diamond)
Those are the ones that i find best for a resto shaman, ofcourse you could use other sockets - but this is just my 5 cents on how to do it ;>
ADDONS:
As in my other priest guide, i got a few good addons for you, those will be listed here:
VisualHeal - spares you alot of mana because you can see whoever heals your target and if you or them casts the spell first.
Grid - a nice addon showing your raid, and how much hp they need.
DBM - Every proper raider should have this baby. Nuff said.
This should be the 3 prio addons for healing/raiding. If you got those you have already taken a long step into becoming an awesome raider.
THE END
I think that this is it, i will add whatever i miss and if i find new tricks on how to play a shaman healer.
Thanks for reading, take care and baibai!
