Why So Many Guild Applications?‏

Some thoughts on what all that guild application
mumbo jumbo is about. If you're in a guild, good for you - you
already have a leg up on a bunch of players. If you're in a good
guild, even better - it means you don't suck at picking a team.

But, for everyone else, the question is going to come up soon of
whether to join a guild (YES!) and which one to join. As you might
have guessed, my opinion on the matter is that everyone should be
in guild. It's just common sense. If you want to get run the higher
end raids, get the best gear, make friends who happen to be halfway
decent people and enjoy the game you spend so much time playing,
you need to be in a good guild.

Which means you'll need to fill out an application. I can still
remember my first guild application back in the day. I was turned
down. In fact, I was turned down probably....way too many times to
admit here (where I'm supposed to be the guru). But, there was good
reason for it. I didn't know what I was doing.
Fast forward a few years and I'm on top of my game and am going to
show you how to be the same.
First up, a guild app is like a job app. Take it seriously because
the person who will read it definitely does. Here are a few things
to keep in mind as you fill out that seemingly much too long form:

- Keep it simple - Be to the point because they read a lot of these
things and don't have time for long answers.
- Keep it clean - Make it look nice. Good grammar, good spelling,
good formatting. It's common decency folks.
- Why You're Doing it - Make sure you tell them your goals. What
role are in it for, what do you want to get out of your time in the
guild, etc.
- What Have You Done - If you did something, tell them. Don't brag,
but don't leave anything out.
- Your Stats - Tell them what matters so they don't have to click
the armory - if they like you, they'll do that next.
- Endorsements, Links, etc. - Give them something to look at,
either an endorsement from someone in the guild or a website to
read. Stand out.

Make sure yours is original, stands out and is concise and you'll
at least make it past the slush pile of applicants who are too lazy
to bother with all that. This is important - don't mess around with
it.

i don't want to flame but really now...but it's just common sense...you fill in the info you MUST and that's it...you got good gear you go some heroics with the members of the respective guild impress them and that's abut it..
