Malygos- "You Don't Have An Eternity" *6 minute kill*
Changes in 3.0.8
- 6 minutes
- Sparks expire so that you can't ever stack more than 2-3 at once
Important: make sure you wait a full six minutes after a previous wipe to engage Malygos again: the achievement timer for the previous engage needs to finish. If you don't, your kill wont count if done the next time.
Raid-Comp
- 1 Death Knight is needed to deathgrip the Sparks to the raid
- A raid composed of mostly ranged can help a lot with killing the adds in phase 2. Also, a raid made of mostly melee helps a lot with phase 1 DPS. So really, you can bring your normal raid group as long as one DK is present.
- Warlocks and Rogues help with DPS a lot during P1 because they can get out of vortex by using their "portal" or "shadowstep". Having a decent amount of those is a big help.
Phase 1
- Engage malygos like normal
- Dps as hard as possible without popping cooldowns before the first vortex.
- During the first vortex someone in the raid should find where the spark will be coming from. Lets say it is approaching the raid from the NE. This means that after the vortex is over, the raid should move TOWARDS this direction - your tank should move in the opposite, SW.
- In my experience, instead of moving very far, it is much easier to just move a few yards in the correct distance after dropping from vortex. This is done so dps can start faster.
- When everyone moves the the right direction, Heroism/BL should be popped after about 10 seconds -once your raid is ready to dps as hard as possible-.
- When the first spark comes, the DK should Death Grip it over to the raid. It has to be killed as fast as possible and in the right spot. Melee has to be able to stand in it and hit Malygos and Hunters/Ranged have to be able to the same.
- As soon as it's dead, pop all cooldowns. DPS THE S*** OUT OF HIM
- When the second Spark comes, the same procedure as the first is done.
Success?
- After killing the second spark, DPS has to be as fast as possible. If you go into a second vortex, there is a very very small chance you can still get the achievement. Malygos has to be at 50% to not go into a vortex and go to Phase 2.
Phase 2
- Stay in the sparks until they are gone to DPS the adds down.
- Ranged DPS should start on the left (if you are facing north, the Eastern most add) because they rotate around in a clockwise motion. This is so they dont go out of range while you are trying to kill them.
- Melee DPS should kill the Nexus Lords, they won't be killing the ranged. This could change based on raid comp.
- When ranged adds are killed, ranged DPS should get on the disks so they can get in range faster.**You can cast while moving on a hoverboard**
Phase 3
- Fly up a little to get on Malygos' eye level.
- Everyone has to group up
- DPS should use a *1*1*2* rotation.
- Healers just spam heal themselves and use the AOE heal after 5 combo points.
- When a Static Charge is dropped dps/ranged should strafe right/left in a circle around Malygos.
- 22 DPS 3 Healers can be done, but to be safe, i would say 5 healers is ok.
The Warlock Sacrifice
- Phase 3 can be the "make or break it" part of the encounter. To give your raid a better chance of getting the achievement, you can sacrifice a warlock so your drakes do more DPS.
- You can put Curse of Elements on Malygos in phase 3 by sacrificing a Warlock.
- Have him fly over Malygos, dismount and spam Curse of the Elements.
- You lose one DPS but every other DPS will get a 13% damage increase.
- This 13% damage increase for the raid is equal to 2-3 more drakes dps.
