    Shadowpriests guide to Onyxia solo

    G'day.

    As probably everyone know, the only classes left that are struggling to solo our favorite dragonlady is the mages, warriors, priests and rogues. Killing her is a great way of earning ~170-200g and getting some other loot, and at the same time have a lot of fun with a hard challenge!

    This guide should cover up how shadowpriests are able to solo it.

    This is a mana fight, not a healing fight! Remember to use your Shadow Fiend & Dispersion as early as possible to gain full benefit from them.

    -

    Phase 1;

    * Flame Breath
    This ability does about 3000 damage and is the most lethal attack done in phase one, but should not pose a big threat.

    * Cleave
    This ability does about 1000 -> 1200 damage.

    * Wing Buffet
    This ability does about 700 damage and knocks you back, so stand against a wall.

    * Normal Knockback
    Every once in a while she does a knockback, dealing no damage but knocking you back. It lowers your threat, but since you are soloing it won't matter.

    During this phase you should have no problems keeping your health up. Simply keep Vampiric Touch, Shadow Word: Pain, Vampiric Embrace up at all times. Use Mind Blast at every cooldown and mind flay away while you have time. If you need to use Devouring Plague to keep yourself alive, I wouldn't say you are geared enough to do it. No Shadow Word: Death obviously.

    Phase 2;

    During this phase she is up in the air and firing firebolts at you. You are unable to dodge them, even if it looks like it. Simply tank her, and don't run around like a chicken. I did it my first time, and ended with the whelps killing me.

    She spawns quite many whelps when she flies up in the air, that you should be gathered up and killed by a single Mind Sear. They are very troublesome if not dealt with and will most likely kill you. You must spend the mana from Mana Sear wisely, so do gather them up before using it. Preferably you could use a shield before starting to channel it. She continuesly sends out more whelps, but not as much. You should only have to worry about the ones in the start.

    The hard thing about this is keeping your health high, so you MUST keep all DoTs up with vampiric embrace, including Devouring Plague on Onyxia! And if you do drop low, because you most likely will, use shield.

    This is the hardest part of the encounter, if you can keep mana and health high, phase three should be a walk in the park.

    Phase3;

    This phase is close to identical to phase 1, except that she fears now. WotF and Fear Ward is great assets during this fight, but isn't necessary. You must spend your mana wisely, if you can (have enough spell power) avoid using Devouring Plague due to its high mana cost.

    -

    Remember; the worse gear you have, the more buffs you need!

    I can recommend; [Runic Mana Potion], [Mighty Rhino Dogs], [Elixir of Mighty Mageblood]. None are required, but if you don't have great gear, it could be necessary.

    A great trinket I used is [Majestic Dragon Figurine].

    I have 1827 spell power unbuffed, and I barely succeded without any pots or elixir/food.

    If you have any questions, go ahead and ask!

    (psst, if anyone could tell me how to upload a custom avatar I'd be grateful!)

    I wasn't aware of that! Now that's clever use of game mechanics.

    Feel free to PM me, or just ask in the thread for questions and I'll be sure to help. I'm sure I was quite unclear in this guide exactly how to do.

    Why would you ever not keep Devouring Plague up? It should be part of your DPS Rotation, regardless of the usefulness of the healing component.

    Anyway, nice guide, fix priests in PvP, etc...

    Itachiwolf, that being in PvE content, onyxia is a case of her own. You should have enough mana to bring down her 11million HP on your own, chaincasting. Patchwerk you should have enough mana to chaincast for ~5-6 minutes. Onyxia took me much longer.

    The DpM is horrific of Devouring Plague, and since the fight is about keeping your mana high, I advise not keeping it up. But that was from my experience! If you have higher mp5, spell power etc. there will be changes.

    I guess I should've mentioned that, you should keep inner fire up at all costs.
