Feast of Winter Veul Guide (Alliance and Horde)

This is just a c&p from a website, I am not taking credit, only posting it here cause I know a lot of people just look here in hopes of finding guides (I know I do).

    Horde Quests

Winter’s Presents This quest starts outside Orgrimmar. It seems to be available only between December 25 and 29 (the same time frame in which you can open Winter Veil gifts). Just turn it in at Great-father Winter in Orgrimmar.

Great-father Winter Is Here! Just a small quest from the goblins in any major city (I think) that sends you to find Great-father Winter in Orgrimmar (outside bank). If you have already talked to Great-father Winter before then I don’t think this quest is available.

Treats for Great-father Winter Rewards a Smokywood Pastures Gift Pack and also a Smokywood Pastures Sampler in the mailbox a while later. Read more about how to obtain (and make money from) Gingerbread Cookies here.

The Hero of The Day Starts at Kaymard Copperpinch, ends at Holly Preserver near the goblin cart outside bank in Orgrimmar. To get this quest you will need a high cooking skill (300?) and having done the "Stolen Winter Veil Treats" quest line & "Metzen the Reindeer" (both below). If you turn in 1 Deeprock Salt and 5 gold you will get 5 Preserved Holly, which can sell for a lot more when the Feast of Winter Veil is over. Not repeatable.

The Reason for the Season Starts at Furmund in Orgrimmar, ends at Sagorne Crestrider in Orgrimmar.
The Feast of Winter Veil Starts at the same NPC that ended the last quest, and ends at Cairne Bloodhoof in Thunderbluff. Gives TB rep.

Stolen Winter Veil Treats (Starts at Kaymard Copperpinch, ends at Strange Snowman in Alterac Mountains)
You’re A Mean One (Starts at Strange Snowman, ends at Kaymard Copperpinch. You have to kill a 36 elite called The Abominable Greench. Actually, I found that he spawned anywhere from the quest giver to the ogres east of there. Use a macro like "/target the abominable greench" which you hotkey and spam and you’ll see when you are near him if he’s spawned. There can be a lot of competition so invite everyone from your faction and spread out since everyone in the group can loot the quest item if they are close enough to him when he dies. You can pick up snowballs from the ground here.
A Smokywood Pastures’ Thank You! Starts at Kaymard Copperpinch, ends at Great-father Winter. You get a Smokywood Pastures Special Gift, which can contain valuable items. I got a Schematic: Snowmaster 9000, currently worth about 100 g, in mine, so definitely do this quest chain if you meet the level requirements.

Metzen the reindeer Starts and ends at Kaymard Copperpinch. You can find Metzen the Reindeer in either Tanaris or Searing Gorge. Here are maps. Awards 5 Preserved Holly upon completion and a Smokywood Pastures Extra-Special Gift in the mailbox around 2 days later.

New Year’s Celebrations Basically just a quest for reputation. Very simple. Pick it up outside Undercity by the zeppelin landing and turn it in at the innkeeper in Thunderbluff. Gives reputation.

    Other things you can do:

Receiving Gifts. From December 25 to 29 you will be able to open packages under the Winter Veil tree. Some of the rewards can be sold for cash. Here are a list of some of the known packages and their possible rewards:

    Festive Gift
    Green Helper Box
    Snowman Kit
    Jingling Bell
    Red Helper Box
    Wand of Holiday Cheer
    Gently Shaken Gift
    Winter Veil Roast
    Winter Veil Eggnog
    Carefully Wrapped Present
    Winte Veil Cookie
    Ticking Present
    Preserved Holly
    Mechanical Greench
    Schematic: Snowmaster 9000
Formula: Enchant Weapon - Winter’s Might
    Pattern: Gloves of the Greatfather
    Recipe: Elixir of Frost Power
    Pattern: Green Holiday Shirt
    Plans: Edge of Winter
    Gaily Wrapped Present
    Snowman Kit
    Red Helper Box
    Jingling Bell
    Green Helper Box
    Winter Veil Gift
    Clockwork Rocket Bot
Emotes for rewards. If you type /kiss to a winter reveler (found at the inns) you will receive some fresh holly that transforms your mount to look like a reindeer, or some mistletoe which gives another player a +20 spirit buff for 30 minutes.

Here’s one way to make money from the Feast of Winter Veil. The recipes Recipe: Gingerbread Cookie and Recipe: Egg Nog can only be bought during the Feast of Winter Veil from the goblins in the major cities. Stock up on these for some copper and silver and sell them for several gold each later. You can even put them on the AH during the Winter Veil season. I’ve sold several cookie recipes for 75 s already.

Transformers. There are Goblin operated devices called PX-238 Winter Wondervolt in strategic locations throughout Azeroth. For example near the zeppelin tower outside Orgrimmar, the zeppelin tower outside Undercity, in Menethil Harbor, and outside IF. Step inside and you’ll be given a gnome santa outfit for 30 mins, or until you right click the buff icon. You can do it any number of times.

Snowballs. Snowballs are sold very inexpensively by the goblins in the major cities. Be sure to stock up because it’s the easiest way to get them and they are a component when using several items you can obtain during the Feast of Winter Veil. They can also be sold or used for fun later on.

There are also Hardpacked Snowballs, that you can get in Alterac Valley, that can actually knock players down or interrupt spell casting.

Grinding Small Eggs and baking Gingerbread Cookies. Small eggs are needed to make Gingerbread Cookies that are used in a quest available to both factions. The other component is Holiday Spices which you buy from the goblin vendors in the major cities. You also need the recipe sold by them. Then you can start making cookies and selling to other players who don’t know how to get them or are too lazy. The problem is getting small eggs. I have (as of now) a secret location for this. While everyone else is grinding them from birds or whatnot in Westfall, Redridge, Mulgore etc. I have found a much better spot. The problem with the birds is that they are few and far between.

Instead, go kill moonkin in Darkshore. They are very low level and drop just as many eggs as the birds, but they are much, much closer together. You can get 90 eggs an hour (at level 60) here which you can turn into cookies and sell for 30-50 s each. They also drop some light feathers that you can sell to mages. I had no problems selling 37 cookies for 50 s each when testing this, but it was on the first day of the Feast and as more and more people complete the quest, demand will go down.

Here’s an extra tip, by the way: you can bring up the "who list" and type darkshore. You will see which players from your faction are there. If you don’t see any high level players you can assume that no one from your faction is farming the moonkins. I had absolutely no competition when I was there, as opposed to Redridge, Mulgore and Westfall that I also visited. Here’s a map.

There’s also a new spot, since The Burning Crusade, which is even better for horde or high level alliance. Map.

Just don’t expect everyone to like you for providing this "service" to them.

Winter Hats. These sometimes drop from bosses in high level instances, such as Emperor in BRD, Voone in LBRS, Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance and Prince Tortheldrin in Dire Maul. If you see them wearing it, it’s supposedly a 100% drop. The Winter Hats can also drop from random mobs of any level, it seems. They are BoP.

    Green Winter Hat
    Red Winter Hat
Winter Veil Disguise Kit You can supposedly get this in the mailbox 24 hours after finishing some quest given by the goblins (most likely the Stolen Winter Veil Treats quest chain). Be sure to save some snowballs so you can actually use this later.

Egg Nog Shapeshifting. If you drink a random, low, number (1-3 usually) Egg Nogs you will turn into either a snowman or a reindeer and become drunk to boot! You make them with cooking and the recipe and the spices are only available at the goblin NPCs in the major cities, so if you want to be able to make this out of season, make sure to stock up on spices. Small eggs can be grinded in Darkshore as described above.
