Passive gold making while tabbed out / working [Camping]

Greetings, this is a small guide on how to make gold by camping Dire Maul arena whilst tabbed out / doing something else or even working; this guide will be very beneficial to some and useless to others as the mob we are camping that drops the item we are after spawns every 5-8 hours is an item that no price can be set at, different people pay different sums of money for them, some servers these sell for 500, some 1000, on my main server (a high population realm), I often sell these for 2000-2400 within 4 days yet before I transfered to this server, I was frequently selling them for 1400.

The item: Orb of Deception

Now the beauty of this item is that it is a level 54 BOE blue which indicates its a world drop, most people who see this on the AH or on other people assume there is no real way to farm it because it has a very low drop chance from practically every mob in the 55-60 level range, however the boss that spawns every 5-8 hours (Which is usually Skarr the unbreakable, and occasionally, The Razza) has around a 10% drop rate of this item, yet ALWAYS drops two BOE blue items for level 50, and sometimes three which means you got two chances of getting an orb and it is actually possable to get two orbs in one kill.

Okay so lets get on with it, if you have decided to give this a try here's what you will need:

* A level 60-70 character (You can solo these bosses at level 60 as a kiting class with a bit of experience however at 70 you can solo these bosses as any class).
* Dire Maul Spawn Announce: Download DM Rare Spawn Announcer Dire Maul Rare Spawn Announcer 1.1 | Curse

Now what we do is simple, we travel to Dire Maul (the uninstanced part) until you see an outdoor arena with a lot of ogres patroling around, inside the bottom of the arena the rare boss will spawn every 5-8 hours after the last kill. find a nice place to hide and download the spawn announce addon, after configuring the addon you will be able to leave WoW and your speakers on while tabbed out doing whatever you want to happily camping your rare spawn and making gold by killing it as soon as you hear the music.

How to use the addon:
When tabbed into WoW, go into your sound options and untick everything apart from Enable sound on the top and Sound in Background; to test that this works type /dmsa test ingame and then tab out of WoW, if you can hear the music it means your configuration is correct.

Glad you like it and good luck!, I've certainly abused this one dry hehe; by the way, forgot to mention in the OP that the spawn timer being 5-8 hours takes on a random interval between five to eight hours, not spawning exactly on the killed time for the hour, so after five hours has expired after a kill it could spawn any minute.

No offense, but isn't this flawed? How are you supposed to wait for the spawn with the addon if you go afk waiting? .....You will be logged out and then? Or are you supposed to come back to your pc every single 10 min ? Then Im not sure if it's worth it.... better do it without the add on then basically if you will have to come back every time?

A good question, prepareforignition and that was something flawed in my OP as I forgot to mention it; the AFK-log off ilding time is exactly 30 minutes in WoW meaning you only have to tab in every 25 minutes and press one button then tab back, to keep the alarm system active for when a boss spawns. But ofcourse, this is a vast improvement to having to keep tabbed in constantly, peering down into the arena every 10 seconds which was the old method .

The addon is just there incase you want to go AFK and do something else while camping, personally I have held back on posting this because I did not want more competition on my servers; I've been using this for over a month and retrieved myself a hefty sum of gold, while I've been cooking, working (at home), cleaning, washing hell! I even took my laptop outside when I was gardening to get the spawn.

Those that will try to camp this boss hopefully will not have heard of the addon and therefore have to tab into wow to check every 10 minutes out of paranoia, yet the boss only takes a tanking character 3 mniutes to kill; the advantage of using this addon is that most of the competition get bored and sloppy waiting for it for hours, and usually end up leaving after 30 mins before its even schedueled to spawn for a few hours, whereas you can do whatever you want while awaiting on the spawn and then get a nice alert to tell you to claim your free loot.

got it will be trying it out , resto gear on a feral druid, we will see if it works playing on BS , EU . Horde dominated while im alliance ( yeey ) .

Some guy is selling it at 1000 gold now from my guild, i would even be satisfied if i could sell it for 700g ^^

All three rare bosses spawn in the arena pit, where you are forced to be flagged for FFA-PVP (meaning both alliance and horde can kill you), the tunnel with the open doors at the end is just the way out of the arena, I don't suggest camping the boss from here because if someone engages the boss the doors lock and you'll have to run all the way up before someone steals your kill
