    Death Knight Starting Area Guide

Hi this is a guide to Death Knight starting area quest lines. I did not discover the information on my own, I just gathered the information and put it in one convenient place to look at.

In Service of the Lich King:
Report to Instructor Razuvious in the Heart of Acherus.
    Description
All that I am: anger, cruelty, vengeance - I bestow upon you, my chosen knight. I have granted you immortality so that you may herald in a new, dark age for the Scourge.
Gaze now upon the lands below us. The Scarlet Crusade scurries to undo my work, while Light's Hope stands defiantly against us - a blemish upon these Plaguelands. They must all be shown the price of their defiance.
You will become my force of retribution. Where you tread, doom will follow. Go now and claim your destiny, death knight.
    Completion
You have heard the call of the Lich King, Death Knight. Now is the time to answer your master.
    Reward
    825 experience
    Guide
Talk to Instructor Razuvious, directly across the Necropolis from the Lich King.

    The Emblazoned Rune Blade:
Search the weapon racks in Ebon Hold for a Battle-worn Sword and then use it on a runeforge to craft a Runebladed Sword.
Return the Runebladed Sword to Instructor Razuvious in Ebon Hold.
    Description
The single most important piece of equipment to a death knight is the runeblade. It is through the runeblade that a death knight commands the powers of frost, blood and the unholy. The runeblade also acts as a vessel to store the death knight's runic power.
The time has come to create your first runeblade. Search the weapon racks on this floor and locate a battle-worn sword. Once found, take the sword to a nearby runeforge and use it to create a runeblade.
    Completion
Well done, <name>. You have successfully created your first runebladed weapon. With it you will sow the seeds of chaos and destruction! In your wake will be a bloodied field of battle, littered with the corpses of all that would dare oppose the Scourge.
    Reward
    16350 experience
    Runeforging (Ability)
    Runed Soulblade
    Guide
Walk over to a Runeforge. Loot a Battle-worn Sword from a nearby weapon rack. Move closer to the Runeforge and right-click the sword. You will receive a Runebladed Sword to take back to Instructor Razuvious.

    Rune Forging Preparation for Battle:
Instructor Razuvious in Ebon Hold has commanded you to use your Runeforging ability to engrave a rune [of your choosing] upon your Runed Soulblade.
You may freely replace the engraving upon your weapon at any time, so long as you are near a Runeforge.
    Weapon Emblazoned
    Description
The mark of war is etched indelibly upon your soul, death knight. You have learned the dark art of runeforging and with it you will engrave runes of power upon your weaponry.
Preparations for battle must be made. Return to one of the runeforges, here in the Heart of Acherus, and use the power of runeforging to emblazon your weapon with a rune of power!
Return to me when your blade glows with dark energy!
    Completion
Remember these words, Death Knight: The Runeforge is a Scourge instrument. It exists only in Acherus, Naxxramas and the heart of Icecrown! You may only emblazon your weaponry at a Runeforge.
Return often and emblazon all of your weapons. A Death Knight must be prepared for all that would dare oppose him!
    Reward
    12250 experience
    Guide
Walk to a runeforge, and open your spellbook. Click on runeforging (found on the general tab) and use either of the two options on your blade.

    The Endless Hunger:

Instructor Razuvious in Ebon Hold has commanded you to free an Unworthy Initiate and then kill the Unworthy Initiate in cold blood!
    It's your life or theirs!
    Unworthy Initiate Dominated
    Description
The endless hunger will soon take hold of you, Death Knight. When it does, you will feel pain immeasurable. There is only one remedy for the suffering: the hunger must be sated.
I give you the key to your salvation.
Chained to the Heart of Acherus are those deemed unworthy of the dark brotherhood. Use the key to free an unworthy initiate. Allow them to equip their gear and battle you for their freedom. Kill and the pain will cease. Fail and suffer for eternity.
Live or die - the choice is yours to make.
    Completion
As expected, my chosen knight has triumphed! You are ready, <name>.
    Reward
    12250 experience
    Guide
With the Acherus Shackle Key in your keyring, go down into the center of the room where you see the Unworthy Initiates kneeling.
Behind one of them will be an Acherus Soul Prison. Right click on the Acherus Soul Prison to release the Unworthy Initiate. Once they are released, they will put on gear and buff with blood presence, and then fight you.
Kill the initiate and then return to Instructor Razuvious.

This is all for now will finish latter. This is just the first few quest, there is even more quest at the starting area in Ebon Hold, you should be able to reach lvl 58 by time you leave the starting area.

    Some Tips:

    1. As soon as you level, train. Immediately. You get a ton of fancy new abilities each level, and they can really make the quests go smoothly.
    2. Death Knights start with no talent points, despite their level. You gain talent points via questing. Therefore, check your Talents after every single quest. You just might have new points to spend!
    3. Citizens of Havenshire and New Avalon often like to beg for their lives just before you attack them. Ignore them. (Or laugh at them. That's pretty fun.) Then kill them anyway.
    4. Read your quests. Seems like a simple thing, but many of the quests in this zone require very specific steps to complete them. If you skim, you might miss something! Not to mention the loads of awesome lore packed into the zone.
    5. Do not fly your big awesome Vanquisher outside of Havenshire/New Avalon. It will get grumpy and kick you off. You will die.
    6. The quests in the Death Knight Starting Experience will more than likely give you enough experience to get to level 58 before leaving. However, if you want to make absolutely sure, kill a few extra Crusaders here and there for the added experience boost.
    7. You earn about 30 gold doing these quests. Because you don't need to spend any of it getting new gear, don't be shy with it. Buying food and Corpse Dust from the vendors can make questing much faster!
    8. While there is no mailbox in Acherus, there is one down in Havenshire. Your Death Knight starts with everything they will need for the first three levels, but if you absolutely must have those 22-slot bags, there most definitely is a way to get them to your new Death Knight.

Here is a good spec for the least downtime and most efficient leveling experience, granted you cant max it out yet but start putting points into what you can, you may notice you don't start of with talent points, those are unlocked by completing the starting quest.:

    A good guide, brett0560.
I've seen a few of these here, but this one is the only one in color

The only thing I gotta dissagree on, is the talent build.
Blood is a great Talent Tree against single Mobs, and you have very little downtime.
But with this build : Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft (at level 61)
you can down 5 Mobs at a time, no problem thanks to morbitity.
Also, your Ghoul is like a Hunters Pet, through Ghoul Mastery, which makes this build even better for soloing.
Plus, when you have low health, simply attack single Mobs (about 2)
and you're ready to AOE again :-)
