Hey guys, Agility of Destromath here. Been a looong time since I've been on these forums. Little bit bored, so I figured I'd write a guide on how to run a PvP guild, aswell as run premades.
Step one: Get Geared.
You need gear to run the PvP guild. What guild would be successful where you have all these members that have better gear, better skill and more knowledge of the game than you? Right. So save us all the time, join another guild or just get gear on your own. When you have "decent" gear, then you can get your charter.
Step Two: Pick a name that is IMPOSSIBLE to offend anyone.
Names mean ALMOST nothing. I know my guild name isn't the best in the world (Brutal Gladiators). But, it's not ridiculous, it's not completely stupid, and it doesn't offend anyone. Naming your guild <Kool Kidz Klubz> is definitely not the name of a guild that you want to make seriously. Maybe a leveling guild, maybe an RL friend guild, but you eliminate a percent of people who play the game from joining your guild. that person might be a 4/5 brutal lock. So for your sake and mine, keep it simple.
Step Three: Recruit Selectively. DO NOT INVITE EVERYONE. Get only other geared members.
Biggest mistake I've seen. Throwing invites to every 65+ that wants to abuse your guild bank. I Currently only have 45 members in my guild, but all of them are geared, active, skilled and attentive. We are undefeated in premades, and the main reason is that I didn't recruit that 70 mage with 3/5 Rep reward, and that 2/5 vengeful rogue that asked where to buy poisons. Just because your guild has 150 members and has a 4 tab guild bank doesn't mean that you have skill and can run the table on counter-premades. It's about being "leet".
Step Four: Same time, EVERY NIGHT. Get people used to it.
I run premades, every night, at 6:30 server. at the start, we only had 4-5 people showing up, but as people logged in and noticed what we were doing, they made sure to login at that time It's a lot like raiding. Plus, it shows your members you give a shit about winning, and you're not just in this for the free donations to the guild bank and the e-peen flexing of running your own guild. I have been getting full WSG premades (weekend) because people get on when I tell them too. I bet when people read this step they say "well no shit", but it's often overlooked in PvP, because you can queue at any time.
Step Five: ALWAYS bring 2 to 3 pugs along if you still are recruiting.
The best disc priest in my guild I picked up off of a pug run. We were destroying Arathi Basin, and one of our pugs asked to join the guild. A lot of skilled players will not leave a guild for another guild if they don't have a legit reason to. "Well, my guild is fine, we pvp sometimes. I have no reason to join <Guild>." When players see you annihilate other teams, they want in permanently. Even if you pug often, or you need to pug, let them know that they don't always have an invite. I once got "well i like my guild, but just whisper me when you do premades so I can leech badges and honor.". I let him know guildies go first, we rarely pug etc, and I ended up getting him in the guild an hour later. It's like an extra way to recruit players.
Step Six: Macros, Macros, Macros.
Lets be honest. When a guy drops a macro, he looks like he knows what he's doing. Even if you copied the macro, or it's completely wrong, it's still looks hot. Get macros for:
1. Trade recruit spam
2. Raid chat "this is how you get preform AV enabler" Spam
3. Vent Spam
4. Guild "it's time for premade invites so drop group" spam
5. "Welcome to <guild> of <Server> Premade!" spam
6. "Group one <Area> Group two <Area> spam
etc etc
Just make macro's for everything you say more than once a day. it looks pro gamer.
All I feel like doing for now. I'll make some macro's on what to say, how to win BG's and everything else tomorrow. It's 3:30 AM. Any suggestions, comments, feel free. I'll be editing my post.
